Crime of passion

Some may think this is a pretty lame reason for killing your roommate:

A man has been arrested for fatally beating his roommate with a sledgehammer and a claw hammer because there was no toilet tissue in the home, authorities said.

But looking back on all the times I have lived with other people, toilet paper has always been in the top 10 of contentious issues. In addition to the (always unexpected and unwelcomed) sudden lack of TP at the most inconventient time, there are:

1. The failure of the person who used up the last of the roll to put on a fresh roll, and

2. The failure of the person who did replace the roll to put it on the right way. Take a poll if you doubt me, but it is an immutable law of the universe that women like the paper to come off the roll over the top and men like it to come off by being pulled up from the bottom.

The sledgehammer was overkill; otherwise, I'd have advised the defense attorney to plead justifiable homicide.

In our home, it's my wife that likes the roll to expend the contents FROM THE BOTTOM, while I prefer FROM THE TOP, but aside from that, I have neither the inclination NOR the desire to even entertain the thought of doing any bodily harm to my significant other. Whether it's "above" or "below" is simply a non-sequitor in this domicile.
Granted, there is the rare time one might find oneself "stranded" with nothing but an empty carboard roll to stare at....and THAT is why you NEVER have things such as this OUT OF REACH! And THAT is how you avoid sledging your fellow man.
Someone once said that: An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure", and perhaps with a little cooperation, instances such as the sledgehammer overkill incident CAN be avoided. And should.
I wonder what this man would have done, had Mr. Crapper's wonderful invention backed up as well???

Points to ponder, indeed.
