Cutting edge

Well, bless their hearts:

At a time when the state is cutting funding for college and can't find money for preschool education or dental care for the poor, some of Indiana's legislators are proposing the state give back money to taxpayers.

Dozens of bills in the House and Senate have been introduced to slash taxes in a multitude of ways. Some call for holidays on sales taxes and income taxes. Several want to eliminate inheritance taxes or cut business taxes.

Combined, they represent hundreds of millions of dollars the state would lose.

But notice how the reporter frames the story. "At a time when" we can't find money for anything, the dummies actually plan to reduce their funding even further. Taking sides in the very first paragraph!

The even better news is that a spokesman for the governor says he's open to the proposals, as long as the cuts in funding are offset by spending cuts, and the chairmain of the Senate Tax and Fiscal Policy Committee says he accepts those parameters.
