Dance to the music

Japan seems to be in a really retro mood these days. The populace is trying to relive the 1960s:

The Beatles visited Japan only once as a band, but the country is commemorating the 40th anniversary of their concerts as if the Fab Four had never left the stage.

Japanese media are lost in Beatlemania, and the hotel where they last stayed in 1966 is offering a special last viewing of their suite before the hotel's demolition.

The prime minister, meanwhile, is enthralled with the 1950s:

Elvis left the building years ago, but Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi channeled his spirit Friday during a visit to the performer's Graceland mansion.

Standing next to President Bush in the garish "jungle room," a Polynesian-inspired sanctuary filled with fake-fur chairs, ceramic monkeys and green shag carpet on the floor and ceiling, Koizumi broke into song.

Wouldn't want this to go too far. Hope not too many of them start getting nostalgic for the 1940s.
