According to Komets General Manager David Franke, the team doesn't have any ``secret goalie, secret weapon, I don't have anything going on with anybody'' coming in later. ``We're right where we're at. What's there is there.''
Justin Hodman and Pascal Morency are both playing in Europe and are not coming back.
As for the third goaltenders? ``Still working on that. We're looking at a couple of kids who are in ECHL camps. We're working on it. We really don't need anybody until Tuesday morning. If a guy gets cut over the weekend, we'll be free to bring them in then.''
One change is that Artem Podshendyalov won't be in training camp until likely Oct. 19 because of immigration issues in Russia.

Blake - I like how you tell people that basically, nothing is happening, refering to the thread title, but then say "it's definitely not about free parking"...so I'm led to believe there is something going on based on that sentence alone.

I stand by what I say. If, for some reason I am wrong, any retraction can be located in the News-Sentinel, Feature section, back page, 5 days after the mistake is found.

I never understand the obsession worrying about what "might" happen. When something happens Blake will let you know. I get a little speculating is fun but if David Franke wants to say there is nothing happening it is his right to do so. If they sign someone tomorrow it doesn't mean anything was happening at the time the comment was made. It doesn't mean his phone didn't ring the minute after Blake got done talking to him and something got started.
David Franke has no reason to lie. If he didn't want to comment he could simply say "no comment"
Rumon mongering is a hobby for some fans and some in the media. I am glad Blake cares enough about his reputation that he does not engage in it.

I wouldn't go so far as saying David Franke is lying. There could be lots of reasons for him to keep the news confidential.
For instance, maybe the player hasn't gotten out of his present contract. ( Remember Patrosso was signed to play in Europe and broke his contract to play here).
Maybe the contract simply hasn't been approved by the league, or maybe the announcement must be delayed because the Komets are going to bring in another goaltender which will fill the training camp roster at the maximum 30 players. They may be waiting for some cuts to be made.
Maybe they don't want the player to come in before they have had a chance to "see" the young forwards. Perhaps they fear some will leave with another "sure thing" to have to compete with. That happened last year with a defenseman. There is no reason to intentionally discourage them.
Perhaps they want to keep this player a secret from the rest of the CHL teams in order to not start a bidding war.
Maybe the player simply needs time to get back to the United States. Maybe there is immigration papers to get completed.
There are plenty of reasons why David Franke would take the careful, prudent approach and just simply wait until everything is set. It doesn't mean it will not happen and it doesn't mean it will happen.
Charlie I. I have become a great believer in Mightbite. I have defended him time and time again. I would say 90% of the stuff he says ultimately happens.
Here are a couple of facts for everybody to chew on. First, Kent Horman indicated that a new signing, one that would thrill Komet fans was coming soon. Secondly, a while back Blake had reported that evey scorer the Komets had contacted wanted to stay where they were. OK, I'll accept that. I think he was giving us the best information possible at the time. Then, holy cow, a trade was announced bringing Bennefield to the K's.
I have no reason not to believe Blake, I just bring this point to all of you to remind everyone that player signings are a dynamic situation. Things can change at any minute.
Mightbite, please keep on alerting us on player aquisitions. Don't be dismayed by some who will point out any error and yet not give you credit for being correct.

You have given us far too many correct ones in the past for me to doubt you, as Alan so correctly pointed out in his post (and in many previous ones that said the same thing). I only wish you could correctly state that Brent Henley is coming back for us, or that Evgeni Saidachev was....but then I wish you could predict winning lottery numbers for me too, and I don't think you are a fortune teller...LOL...
