A dog's life

Good grief. A poor doggie dragged back from vacation just for a photo op?

Bo Obama was supposed to be in Hawaii. Instead, he showed up at President Obama's side Wednesday shopping for treats at PetSmart

According to Michelle Obama's press office, the first dog was planning to go to Hawaii with the first lady and the Obama daughters. The Chicago Sun-Times reported that he in fact had gone there. The Honolulu Star-Advertiser quoted an eyewitness who said he had seen the Portuguese Water Dog having his walk.

So what is Bo doing back in Washington shopping at PetSmart?

Either these reports are mistaken, or Bo was told his vacation was over and that he had to return to the White House to keep a lonely president company

In r/e Bo the Wonder Dawg, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he was flown back, and if so, I'm sure it wasn't "coach" either....

They have two VC-25s that serve as Air Force One - tail numbers 28000 and 29000. But if Michelle takes one to Hawaii and Obama takes the other one, later, don't you imagine that they'd return on one plane, together?

It makes little sense to leave one of the VC-25s in Hawaii. Better bring it back to Andrews and let the flight crew sleep in their own beds.

I doubt that the weight of Bo would result in burning one extra gallon of avgas on a round trip. I don't see ANY difference in mileage of my van when my 130-pound long-haired German Shepherd is aboard. But if you think it took a gallon of fuel, Tim, perhaps we could hold a bake sale.

A good and loyal dog is a great help in dealing with stress. It's probably a good idea to keep a dog handy to every world leader who commands nuclear weapons.

Newt's owned several pets. Problem is, he keeps ditching them in favor of younger, better-looking pets.
