The International Hockey League (IHL) conducted a dispersal draft on Wednesday to disperse players from the 2006-07 final rosters of the Chicago Hounds, Elmira Jackals, Quad City Mallards and Rockford IceHogs. Those four Member Clubs will not participate in the 2007-08 IHL season.
The order in which current Member Clubs selected players was based on their winning percentage in the final standings of the 2006-07 season, with lowest-ranked teams choosing first. By choosing a player in the dispersal draft, IHL teams have the rights to the selected player for the 2007-08 season.

Comments
Greg, I hope the Komets don't EVER waste a roster spot for a cheap shot goon like Tidball.
As for why "A" players ended up being picked so late in the draft - I'm guessing that scouts and agent have informed GMs and coaches that they are likely to sign and play elsewhere. That and vet limits and salary cap issues.
Just heard Pascal signed a two-way deal with Bridgeport of the AHL, and the Islanders want all their affiliated players to go to Utah of the ECHL. Komets are still going to try to talk to them, but they aren't terribly optimistic.
great now we have to hear all the gilrlies whinning about no cutie pascal......
Oh my, and I've already paid for my season tickets! Iweeping for Pascal)
and Chaz Johnson.... who's kidding who?
I tend to agree with Tony....I'm not sure how many of these players will actually sign to play here. I am of the opinion that only a few of these players will come here and the majority of the roster will be a mix of returning players and free agents.
Blake, was Kelly Miller even available to be selected in the draft? Also, is there a timetable or deadline to be able to sign any of the drafted players?
draft was interesting.. got a good chl goalie in degagne couple scorers in bennefield pilkington and chwedorok (sp). defensive scorer in durdin some size in pototschnik and sgroi. a college scorer in mcmahon and three guys we probably just picked to keep themoff other teams in johnson and littlejohn and kukulka. doubt if those three will be anywhere but the ahl next year. over all i think a smart draft by the komets but its sorely lacking toughness!!!!!!!
Chuckitt, those three have no chance to play in the AHL next year, at least not on a full-time basis. The Komets thought Johnson and Littlejohn may have already signed somewhere else but they were not sure so they took a chance.
Kelly went to Muskegon in the 10th round.
They retain their rights until Jan. 16.
I am surprised Mizzi was passed over a couple of times by us. Wow.
From Savage Thoughts.....or maybe it was Dumb Ideas?
Cloutier has signed in Europe but Sanko said that's not necessarily set in stone. The IHL doesn't have a reciprocal agreement with European teams, meaning Cloutier could jump leagues if he wanted.
"I have talked to Cloutier and I know what it would take to get him here," Sanko said. "It's not for the public to know, but let's just say I'm not going to give up on him just because he's signed overseas. He's the one (goalie) we wanted, that's for sure.
"Not everything always works out in Europe. That's a long ways to go. It's a long way from your family. You might think you've got a car in your contract and you end up sharing a car with a guy. That's what happened to me. I got tired of it."
Does this explain why certain guys were taken knowing they have signed in Europe? Could Chaulker leave Europe and become a Komet after all? LOL
15 of 18 guys taken in the first three rounds were from QC and Chicago. What does that tell you? I don't know what it tells me, but the facts speak for themselves. Although I don't know what they are saying.
Maybe it says that Rockford's players for the most part are following Martinson or going elsewhere after a championship season?
Can't wait to see Turdball come to the Coliseum 8 times this season.....hope we have 10 enforcers with that arse-wipe on the ice.....
Just think, if we had a 16 team league, we'd see Turdball twice.
And how come Blakes gets that little man-in-a-box on his posts? That's what I want to know.
I had heard that Mizzi signed in Europe.
i wanna know why everyone calls blake, blakes?
Thanks for the update....I guess next time I need to clean my glasses better before looking at a long list of names......:)
Komet Warrior calls him Blakes....MAN!
Blakes is better known as Super Fan.
gotcha...i should've known
It's ok.....Blake claims he is not a fan.....Chaulker called him a Super Fan.......I will back our captain on this one....LOL
I know I am running the risk of my nose turning a shade of brown here.....
.....but both Blake and Justin do a great job of covering the Komets. They both do these blogs on basically their own time and they put lots of effort into making them first class. I for one sure do appreciate them both for taking the time to keep us morons up to date with accurate and entertaining information. I spend time reading both blogs and feel each day that I am a little dumber each time....I mean a little wiser.....whatever?! LOL
All seriousness....I think we all appreciate your efforts Blake. Even though, you are a Super Fan deep down....you'd have to be or you wouldn't care two hoots about what you do. No need to defend that either. It is cool that you care about the local team you write for.
Well said Hit!! Plus, they good people to put up with all of us.
I didn't know Blake was Super Fan??? I've heard it mentioned a few times but never put them together. So we have both obsorbed the Hawks curse Blake?

I fixed it too late...
I want my pic on this thing!!!!! Everyone needs to see the handsome man behind the wisdom..........
BARF!!!!!!!!!
You mean you guys can see Blakes Mug on here? Thank goodness mine isn't working.....LOL
Bingham has made Pascal's dream come true it looks like....
Guess the IHL site ought to take his picture off their page and off of their advertisements.
Littlejohn already has a contract with Elmira in the Echl. They signed him when they moved. It was only a rights thing so he couldn't play in the league without a trade. Sgroi played a few games with elmira and was called up to AHL...doubt he would be here.
Blake,
Justin Chwedoruk had a serious injury during the penultimate game of the regular season at Flint. Do you have any information about his condition at the present?
I agree with Tony E earlier post that the vast majority of these players will not sign in the IHL. The majority will go to the ECHL or Europe. The way this league will look is new rookies looking for a shot to move up and Vet's who want to play a few more years before they hang them up. It will be interesting how many "tweeners" there will be in the IHL. Syro has told the K's thanks but no thanks is heading to the ECHL. Will taking some time away, vacation, to think over what all has gone down with this league and how it all unfolded I am sure the a 6 team league will be good at recreating old rivalries. If the league can not grow to at least a 10 to 12 team league by next year because the cities of Flint/PH/Bloomington can not sustain, then I believe the future of hockey will be in trouble. I believe that FW will have hockey no matter what league they are in, but the AA level the Frankes and the IHL claim to be is just that a "claim" in no way will the IHL be considered a AA level league by the rest of the hockey world and that perception will keep the majority of good hockey players looking at their shot of moving to the AAA level or big time, away from the IHL.
Guys don't forget, there are less teams out there which means players who want to play ae going to have to find somewhere to play. The one thing the Frankes and the coaches they've had are good at is finding those players who really want to play and then put a decent team on the ice. Yes, there aer a few stinkers in there, but we all have them. I'm confident that the league will be fine and the Komets will have a good team.
