And today's nominees for brazen political huckster of the year are:
1. Arlen Specter, who probably would have had an easier primary staying a Republican. He's falling further behind in the polls against Joe Sestak. One thing Arlen apparently didn' take into account -- that fierecely partisan Pennsylvania Democrats might find it uncomfortable voting for him after being against him all these years. Now he has to cope with the fact that he's the only Democrat who voted against Elena Kagan for solicitor general.
2. John McCain, more than any Republican responsible for keeping "comprehensive immigration reform" (i.e., amnesty) alive, who gives new meaning to the concept of pandering with his new "complete the danged fence" TV ad.
