Tailing the Komets

Fifth loss in a row

I felt like the Komets out-worked the Gems for 55 minutes or so tonight, probably had the better scoring chances and played fairly smart as far as the penalties and defensively. They still lost 2-1, their fifth loss in a row and fourth in a row by one goal. 40 shots on net and only one went in.

``I think we have to think about it through the weekend and address it on Monday and see if new faces make a difference or stick with the same group,'' Komets coach Al Sims said. Obviously we're getting shots, we're playing hard and the effort was there. I just don't know what else to tell them. I can't shoot and score for them. I can't tell them to relax when they get the puck. It's just up to them to find their confidence. Right now we're not a very confident bunch.

Hit has a point here folks. I said it last week, the talent in this league was underestimated. Unless you are willing to go through more pain, you have to spin the wheel on a deal.

I was told last year by a source (not a player) that certain vet's would be taking a pay cut this year to stay with the team. Fair enough, again just by results, you get what you pay for.

At this point, if there is something out there, the question is do we cut bait or use an asset to fish?

Sorry, but confidence and quiet leadership aren't winning the points we desperately need.

I appreciate your post Mike....and hear you loudly.

I agree.

They didn't pay the price in the summer..........now, look where we are.

I will preface this with the thought that me and SF and many others thought this team was absolutely loaded.

But looking back, hindsight is always 20/20.....there is one major piece missing, and it is large and gapping to the tune of 2-9.

Mike, any clue if this hole could be filled with that piece as you see it.....knowing your connection, I would love to hear your opinion.

Also, if it can be filled....will it be in time?

JM, go over and look at Cohn's blog for that discussion.

Also you can catch-up in the people that love to bash you if you have an opinion that is not rosy and saying that the Komets are perfect and that you can't speak about your opinion of the Komets......

You'll love it over there.....LOL

My comment to Hit was based on agreeing with him in that it wouldn't be a popular statement although it's true.

Since the CHL, ECHL, and AHL all have the same union I wonder just what a player's options are when it comes to being traded? Would refusing to report blackball him in all three leagues? I'm guessing there's some sort of trade clause in their individual contracts also.

Okay, I'll try again. But if you still don't see the connection, that's fine.

Two healthy kidneys. You really only need one, and if needs be, you can give one of them up, no problem. Granted, you run the risk of having problems later on if something happens to your remaining kidney, but that's a risk people can and do take when there is a greater need out there.

That said, I seriously doubt that the K's would trade either goalie. Never mind that they have a surplus of talent in that position. It just isn't likely to happen.

Considering the low attendance for some of these teams maybe the Komets should consider trading fans for players. Do it quick though because pretty soon there will be only very loyal Komet fans and hard core hockey fans left in our stands. Maybe the pure hockey fans wouldn't mind being traded... :-)

Hm... Colorado or Fort Wayne? When do I move? Arizona or the Fort? Does my flight leave directly from Fort Wayne, or do I have to drive to Indy?

I'll also put myself on the trading block..If I have to move to Arizona for the betterment of the Komets, that's what Ill do. I'm a team player

I'm thinking Arizona first, Colorado as my second choice. Evansville and I'll fail to report.......

Hit, i have been out of town on business and not able to access the blog. Sorry for the late reply, I didn't want you to think I was ducking your question. I don't know that the subject of a return from Italy has even been floated on that side of the pond.
So at time nothing is happening.
