The free-speech game

A Beverly Shores couple says there was a chilling effect on their free-speech rights because they were arrested after "they honked their car horn, took photographs and allowed their dog to bark while driving along a public roadway." They also say they did not "disturb a game animal," which is what the fuss is all about, as they were attempting to interfere with some deers' right to be killed by hunters.

Sorry for that cheap shot.

If one were to apply this to the city's ordinance regarding "quiet repose" (sections 96.03, 96.05, and 96.15), then ALL the people that honk car horns (or as I prefer to call it...the reknown ghetto doorbell), drive boomcars, shoot off (now legal) fireworks, and fire gunshots SHOULD be in the same boat as Fred & Rosanne...just at different oars, right?

Funny thing though....people HERE seem to get away with it a lot more.

Maybe there's a city slogan in there somewhere.....

"Join Fred & Rosanne - Come HONK your Horn in Fort Wayne".

And hunting won't "disturb or otherwise affect the behavior of a game animal"?

Yeah....it'll make the animal run like hell (if the hunter's a bad shot)..LOL!
