The Gary way

This is one of those "only in northwest Indiana" stories:

GARY -- At least three of Gary's declared mayoral candidates have bankruptcy filings in their past, including one front-runner, but each of them says the bankruptcy has no bearing on their ability to manage finances of the cash-strapped city.

Bankruptcy filings can be found in the federal district covering Northern Indiana for Ragen Hatcher, Robert L. Buggs Sr. and Jeffery Tatum. Hatcher is considered a major contender for the mayor's office, but she hasn't filed paperwork yet to run. She promises she will do so by the Feb. 18 deadline.

Gary is so close to financial ruin that the General Assembly is considering a bill outlining what to do when bankruptcy looms for a city. Who better to run it than someone who can't cope with his or her own personal finances?

Hmm, are we seeing a "trend" here?

Gary, IN: Loss of jobs+high number of minorities+gov't entitlements+more crime=financial insolvency.
Yeah, that works (unlike the government-sponsored, lazy-asses that LIVE there).
Math doesn't lie.

Sounds JUST like Detroit...or ______(fill in the blank of the top 50 cities with crime problems) that meets the exact same criteria.

I'm just sayin'

Re: Gary Bob and the editorial staff should visit Gary

before making unfounded statements typical

of Republicans. There are many professionals

living in Fort Wayne who grew up in Gary

including physicians who could argue Gary

was and still is a great city.

At the risk of opening the flood gates of personal (and unfounded) "assaults", here goes:
The statements (read "formula")are NOT "unfounded", but if some people prefer to DENY the TRUTH of a situation...well that's THEIR head that needs to be removed from the sand...NOT ours (or mine).

Granted, Gary COULD make a comeback, but it would require a 180 degree turnabout from the last few decades.
(and not many folks are holding their breath waiting for that to happen)

BTW, I'm an INDEPENDENT (I prefer to think for MYSELF based on FACTS, instead of having others think for me, thank you)
