This ad by Democrats explaining why they walked out -- Mitch Daniels made us do it! -- is running only in the Indianapolis market, too, but that's no reason we can't benefit from its cool, calm logic:
From The Indianapolis Star:
The fear that House Speaker Brian Bosma, R-Indianapolis, and Senate President Pro Tempore David Long share: If Democrats, outnumbered 60-40 in the House and 37-13 in the Senate, think they are winning this battle of wills, boycotts could become a regular legislative tactic across the nation. Much the same way, Democrats point out, that minority Republicans have used the filibuster in the U.S. Senate to prevent votes on things they don't like.
And National Review:
The unfairness of the charge aside — Democrats are upset about Daniels's voucher program (how dare low-income kids be given a chance to attend better schools!) and some provisions that would curb union status — it's astounding that Democrats want this to be national issue. (Do they really think there's popular support for abandoning the state you represent?)

It's a shame that they misuse the word "decimate" in that ad.
Especially in reference to public schooling.
It makes it look like decimating them would do no great harm, since everyone's illiterate already.
Agreed. I wish Daniels would merely decimate the schools. That way, 90 percent of them would remain unharmed.
Gee, I wonder if the buses are gassed up for the protesters to head to Albany New York?
