Guide to affective usage

A Hoosier TV station discovers an important issue:

TERRE HAUTE, Ind (WTHI) - Global warming is the name scientists have given to a series of climate changes around the world.

Actually, I think "climate change" is the name given to "global warming" because it was getting harder to sell the warming scare, but never mind that. The story also illustrates how those who talk about the news for a living stumble sometimes when they grapple with the written word. (Added emphasis mine.)

Looking at projected models of the affects global warming will have, the consequences would be pretty extreme from such a minor temperature increase.

"This effects everyone so I think we should all learn more about it," Indiana State University freshman Allison Odein said.

Looks like somebody at that station needs to affect a change in grammar habits.
