Happy Fred Day

What a pal -- Fred is going to announce on my birthday:

DES MOINES (AP) — Republican Fred Thompson, whose entry into the presidential race has been long anticipated, will officially launch his candidacy Sept. 6 in a webcast on his campaign site, followed by a five-day tour of early primary states, the Associated Press has learned.

It may be churlish of me to snub such a lovely present, but I still want to know what he stands for. Also on my birthday, the Pilgrims set sail from Plymouth, England, in 1620. Lof of history to live up to. I'd tell you how old I'm going to be, but then I'd have to shoot myself.

Don't worry - when that day rolls by next week I'll take care of telling everyone how old you are, ... after all, what are brothers for ?

I read over at Daily Kos that "Frederick of Hollywood" has chosen this auspicious date in a cleverly timed move to avoid having to file finance reports until some time in earlyish 2008, after a number of primaries have already taken place.

Then maybe the public will find out that this guy isn't the big conservative savior everyone seems to think he is - lobbyist for pro choice, a un-distinguished and not particularly conservative voting record in congress and his congressional compadres questioning his work ethic.

Just because he is an actor doesn't automatically make him the new Reagan
