Tailing the Komets

Komets lose 5-3

And frankly, they got what they deserved from that effort. It should have been 4- or 5-1 after the first period but Nick Boucher kept them in the game. Mario Larocque scored two goals in the final five minutes to give the Icemen the win.

``That team has beaten us all year, and they continue to beat us in this building,'' Komets coach Al Sims said. ``We can't seem to come up with a way to beat them. They played really well, They are a desperate team that played really well to come back from 3-2 with three or four minutes left in the game. It was a great effort by them.''

The bigger news for the Komets is that defenseman Frankie DeAngelis suffered a concussion and needed stitches late in the third period after an elbow by Evansville's Jeff Christian. DeAngel

I even posted a warning on here yesterday afternoon the the parking lot was going to be a mess with a sold out WWE event gong on in the expo center...You all have no one but yourself to blame for not getting there early and avoiding that mess :)

...with that said, the errands we had to do before the game ran long and we didn't get there until 7:15...Had I not turned around in the Holiday Inn parking lot and came in from that direction I'm sure I would've missed a good portion of the game sitting on Coliseum Blvd

Heading up Coliseum at 6:45 I could see that traffic starting to back up at the mall. I went South on Lima and cut through the mall to Clinton and parked at Scotts. Was in my seat at 7:05 -:). Sounds like I was home in bed before most were out of the parking lot.

I'm glad it helped. Even if it only helped you as long as someone benefited that's all that matters to me.

OMG--Give me a break and quit whining. Be glad we have events that keep people coming to the "Fort"! We were warned a couple of days ago to get there early--so shame on anyone who didn't heed the message. Thanks Blake for letting us know ahead of time. Sorry I missed you last night--you were the first one out of the locker room--and had to write a story--it will hopefully be a better one tonight!

On the elbow, Frankie was going after him, what was the guy supposed to do? Let Frankie get in the first shot? Frankie was looking for a fight and got crushed before it really started. His bad imo.

Frankie got cheapshotted twice on that shift.

I agree....Schrock spent a long time in the box screaming at Christian and promising him a beatdown....but no one bothered to go after him.

If they score on that 5 minute powerplay.....game over IMO.

But they didn't.

Bobby Phillips looked awful last night. He has stopped playing physical, and he gave the puck away, and allowed 2 guys skate by him to score a breakaway goal. The defense looked pittiful last night all together. Way too many break-outs for Eville.

Never should Warner and Phillips be paired together....holy crap. Makes Bobby look worse than he is.

It was one bad game out of about 15 or 16, so no panic.

Losing Frankie and Ratchuk is going to sting this team alot IMO.

A win at Dayton makes everyone forget last nights bad effort.

Christian needs a target on his back next time we play them.

You said they should fire the coach who has won the last three championships and four here overall, whose team had won 12 of 14 before last night. That's about the dumbest thing..., no, I'm pretty sure that's the dumbest thing that has ever been posted here.

After the article this week of the Komets having 15 minute practices and getting more sleep, its showing again tonight on the heals of last nights fiasco. This is not the time to take it easy because they all the sudden feel "ultra-confident". I know they need to watch themselves but they got hot by working hard in practice and in games. This weekend was important to keep up the momentum they had achieved. And now they are reverting back to form from earlier in the year. losing to the worst team in the league and losing 3-0 after 1 period is not a good sign. Come on Komets and WAKE UP! Other teams can get hot and confident also.

This weekend is a wakeup call but not the end of the world.
If they go on to lose two in a row it doesn't signal doom and gloom. It might remind some of the chosen ones that they need to continue to work and grind as hard as they have been because they won't be able to coast their way through many games in this league.

As dumb as Varone going to score 40 goals?

LOL

I kid.

Komets are stinking to high heaven tonight.

First, I'm not the first to have suggested it, second, his CHL record has always been terrible. Third, how do you explain the worst start in Komet History, we get Chaulk back, and pretty much the same team Sims had turns their season around?

Sims was an AMAZING coach in the IHL. No doubt about it.

I guess my whole point is if were going to credit Sims for this team playing well, who do welook to for the first half of this season?

Wow. It really does work. You CAN curse a team by predicting they are going to sweep. And the sad thing is that I only said it to test that theory. Oops. Sorry everybody. My bad.
