JM Check out d-man Taylor Vichorek. He was cut from Trenton but scored 15 points last year with 95 PIMS.

I tried to post this before but it didnt go. Its in the QC paper I guess.

Shawn, try copying the link and pasting that in, sometimes that works better than trying to paste the stats in.

Eh.. Kind of an awkward 6'8" from the looks of it. It'll still be entertaining to see two giants go at it when Henley gets back in the lineup.

According to fans in Trenton (his team for the past 2 years) "he is not a fighter or a big hitter, the other issue with hitting is you have to be able to skate in order to hit people on a consistant basis. He was asked to significantly pick up his physical game this year coming into camp and aside from two hug fests and some bruatl penalties he showed no real interest or ability to do it, so he was released. His fight numbers from last year include more than a couple where Gallant gave him no option."

He doesn't sound very intimidating to me.

agreed JM

Vichorek kind of reminds me of Jordan Lane form Evansville last year. Very awkward and lanky.

K's fans wouldn't be trying to throw Larry off his game if they didn't think he needed to be thrown off his game. Personally, I've never thought the chanting of his name has as much impact on him as people think it does. In fact, it could have the opposite effect, depending on how the game goes. Personally, I always get more revved up when people think I can't do something than when they think I can. But to each his own. People are going to jeer. That's hockey. Players just have to learn to feed off it like Gary Bettman.

Dayton fan here.

I am excited to see Larry play for us. Will be nice to see an accomplished goaltender that has some character about him. We need more players in Dayton like this guy. I hope this helps get the fans into Hara. We need hope.

Go Gems!!!

Jerseygirl, I give you credit for your longstanding allegiance to Larry Stirling. You have been very consistent in your admiration of him. However, I find it amazing that you can yell and scream at Boucher, and in the next breath, defy all human logic by pointing out that others shouldn't scream at Stirling because he has feelings. Wow!!

Wendy, responding to your above post, you might be correct! Maybe Komet fans should use reverse psychology on Mr. Stirling. Maybe the next time he is announced, Komet fans should give him a standing ovation and blow kisses at him. How many of his brain neurons would we destroy? It just might be worth a try. What do you think? It could be fun to watch.

Blake, this totally non-hockey entry was submitted with the sole intention of not hurting anyone's feelings, attacking or any other method of causing pain ( mental or physical), mob, or singular.

Blake, as you get near your one millionth hit, maybe you should think of a blog award or awards. Please make sure that any such type award or awards be void of anything that could be construed as negative. Name calling, sarcasm, or any other type of comment that could "hurt" someone's delicate feelings should be eliminated from contention.

Participation diplomas would be nice.

Thanks in advance!

Alan Hines.

Alan,

I think if the crowd gave Larry a standing "O", not only would Mr. Sterling be surprised, but I think the reaction might be very similar to when the android "Norman" in an old "Star Trek" episode might be quite similar to when "Norman" kept saying "....does not compute, does not compute..." before those brain neurons implode.

I am of the opinion that Larry is a very serviceable goalie at this level, but sometimes he allows the distractions to get him off his game more than he should.

@Wendy, I liked your remark about Gary Bettman. It is a sad commentary when he gets jeered, especially when he is presenting the Stanley Cup to the winning team's captain!

Alan: It would be funny to see if nothing else. I can imagine the whole Komets bench getting in on something like that pre-game if the crowd started it. I wonder if that would constitute some sort of penalty? Not that enough people would get the memo to pull it off, but it would be fun.

Bob: Larry does seem especially mortal in the regular season. And lest we forget, this is still Dayton. I'm not sure they could win with Tim Thomas in net. As for Bettman, I'm pretty sure he actually enjoys the boos. It's gotten to the point that it's more of a joke than anything else. I just don't detect enough actually animosity behind it. Sure, a lot of people aren't happy with things he and the league under his leadership have done, but where is the pure, unbridled hatred that would warrant that level of arena-wide booing?

I dont want to say we need to win tonight but it would be a huge win for the Komets to go into Evansville and win in there house and keep the team rolling. We need to prove we can beat them. LETS GO KOMETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh ya and dont start Beech!

Really? People "boo" Gary Bettman as a joke? That's funny, here I always thought people "boo-ed" him because he's trying to destroy the game we all know and love.

Speaking of Jeff Ewasko...Does anybody have video or a link for when Danny Stewart handed him his lunch? I have been unfortunate enough that I've never seen it.

One last comment on Larry Sterling ( not "Stirling", as I posted before. I can be so stupid ).

Maybe our P.A. guy can come up with the title tune to "Welcome back Kotter" to use for Larry's entrance from now on.

We've got a couple injuries, that's for sure. Doesn't matter. The Komets need to finish this road trip off with a win. Not only to make it three wins out of four games, but to prove to the Icemen that they can be taken (especially at home).

Sometimes, during a season, there are defining moments. This may be a defining moment tonight. Hack out a win tonight, then charge right into the weekend games without a letdown.

I just see more people who simply aren't happy with Bettman because of one thing or another. Not saying there aren't fans who dislike him, some even intensely, but by the percentages, you know that a significant portion of the audience doesn't even know who he is. I was talking about pure, unbridled hatred here. Hockey fans are vocal (just ask the refs), but that's tradition, which is exactly what the booing of Bettman has become -- tradition.

Larry is a loser, if he was a winner he would have rings on his fingers! You are a winner (Bouch) or a loser (Larry), Larry doesn't have what it takes to be a champion, he is without heart on the ice, if Larry the loser can win 3 games in the jungle this year I will eat crow.
