I am so excited about this year's team lineup!! And no matter what I think about one player or another... my opinion doesn't matter, so why would I be negative? Last year's home opener, a guy was ranting and raving about our team and how bad they were the whole game. Finally, in the 3rd period, my friend turned around, stood up, and said to him, "why do you come if you hate it so much?" Never saw him after that. So, my guess is, most of you still attend the games and plan to keep doing that. Personally, I would rather have $600 worth of season ticket fun this season than feeling frustrated before the season even starts. It's all in your own perception, and each person is in charge of their own. Make it a fun season for yourself and those you attend games with. It's not just about the players on the team. Some of my best friends were met at the games, and that is equally what it's about. Just think about it...

seriously, who cares! people will whine, just to whine. i dont know whats worse. people who whine to much, or people who complain about the whiners.

some people have watched this team for years and see how it is ran. they may sound like complaints or negative whines, but thats alot to judge OVER THE INTERNET!! good googly moo!

I love how if someone isnt a fan of a specific move and says as much that they're automatically labeled as a "negative" person. You can still be a fan and not love every move that is made...a CRAZY concept, I know. It's that wacky thing called an opinion sneaking up again...It's okay to think for yourself.

I'm not sure how this turned into a "postive vs. negative" topic. Maybe it happened because some didn't like the idea of Cescon getting traded, Bennefield being added, or a combination of both.

I think that there are two things I've been consistent about when it comes to my 2011-2012 camp posts. 1} I have been calling for more offense, and 2} have stated that the defense looked to be the strongest part of the roster.

The trade of Cescon for Bennefield plus the retirement of Mangos has changed things. Now the offense looks much stronger but the defense certainly took a hit.

However, whichever way you view this trade, ( I personally like it a lot ), we all need to realize that you have to trade quality in order to get quality. Hopefully this is a trade which will help both teams.

Ok, now the focus for the front office is to do what they can to strengthen the defense. Numbers-wise they have put some pressure on themselves because they only carry eight and will keep seven. They will have a lot of choices to look at as camps start to break and players are cut.

I find this trade and the position the K's find themselves in to be quite refreshing. I love the fact that Bennefield WANTS to be here, that he is leaving Toronto to get in Fort Wayne a week earlier than he needs to. I like the fact, as Blake stated, that the Komets now have another spot for a veteran player. I love the fact that the Bennefield trade is going to put even more desire ( or pressure ) on the "veteran" forwards we have in camp. No need to mention names, we all know who they are.

If not for the untimely decision by Simon Mangos to retire, there would be little concern to my way of thinking. By the way, I am sorry that Mangos felt he needed to retire. I was looking forward to watching him play. However, I respect his decision and also respect that he made his decision BEFORE the season. He didn't lead anyone on and it gives the front office some time to react.

Sometimes when trades are made we "lose" our favorite players. I know I was disappointed when Dominic Osman was traded to Kalamazoo for defenseman Rod Aldoff. Still, I recognized it was a good trade for both teams as Aldoff gave experience to a defensive corp that needed some depth.

For the most part we share our thoughts in a solid manner. Some things we like, others we don't, but it doesn't make one blogger a negative ( or realist ) blogger, and the other blogger a posititve ( or cheerleader ) blogger.

Lets just keep our focus on exchanging thoughts, opinions, and ideas.

I need KrazyKometFan's super intimidating friend to come sit beside me and run off the seat kicking kids in my section.

Oh, I guess thats negative.

What I meant was, the positive vibration of the youthful Komet fans can be felt in my seat every night!

For those interested.... Cescon played for Chicago against Rockford last night, had 7 minutes in penalties and fought our former friend from Rapid City, Harvey (who also had a major for interference on the play...). Matt Krug had a 2 minute minor for Rockford in that same game...

Cant wait to drop the puck lets get this going and see what happens i bet alot of goals and a happy team and fans LETS GO KOMETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would take a team like 07-08 any day a team the played together and for each other we only had woods to do most of the fighting and look at what they did to teams made them look very poor I think this team could be the same if they keep the right guys

Mele had a goal last night for Springfield. Steven Delisle played in that game, Llewellyn played for Springfield as well. Chaz Johnson played for Springfield.

I tell you guys what, there are some pretty good players on our roster and we have as many guys in AHL camps as we have ever had as it seems. Going to be tough to let anyone go off this roster. I lean towards young talent. JMO.

There were a few other CHL names on that Springfeild roster as well....

Quite a number of posts for things being so "negative". I know another way to drive the numbers down. Simply, block the ability for people to comment. That always stops 'em.

Don't worry,be happy :)
Franke may be looking for more "toughness" ???????

Shawn

Where you guys are getting all this toughness? Looking at the roster, the top 6 dmen are Starenky, Warner, DeAngelis, Molle, Llewellyn, and Milam. Starenky is the only one whose proven any kind of tough. The 7th guy will be either Dustin Molle or Hotte. Also not proven tough.

Top forwards are Bennefield, Lapointe, Smith, Podshendyalov, Drouin, Schrock, and Chaulk. With the 2 goalies and 7 dmen there at 16 players and can only have 19. That leaves 12 guys to chose from. Thomas, Auger, McIlrath, Mele, Trottier, Krug, Heffernan, Thorne, Rizk, Chaumont, Korduner, Yngwe. And they need the developmental guys. So it looks like Leo and Chaumont might not make it since the team needs at least 1 more guy without too many games. Sorry I just see a soft team.

JM, you just need me to come get the seat kickers....I'll shut them down! LOL...

I'm actually thinking it's pretty funny that Bennefield is sounding intimidated in his interview about facing the Komet fans. I always wonder if the players even hear us on the ice (non-professional players I know say they don't really notice the crowd much for the most part), but this guy sure seemed to notice that the crowd here did not like him much.

Awesome. Keep that up.

Shawn, myself, I wouldn't put Lapointe in that group of top 6 forwards. Maybe they bump Thomas down to third line center?

Patrick

I think He deserves an opportunity to show us.
What He can do the ice before he's criticized.Just my
Opinion you could also look at it.From this prespective.

Shawn

I wasn't meaning LaPointe as a top 6 as in top line, but top 6 most likely to make the team. If they keep Leo, then only 2 of the young guys have a chance. Hope all these guys used to being stars on other teams can work together this season!

Ok Hoss point taken. But it's going to
be a while. Before Big Snake sees any

I'm just ready for hockey to start. It'll be good to see this stuff unfold in person as opposed to having the experts tell us how it is going to happen. I'm ready for that characteristic Coliseum smell and to start dropping $5 on everything from ice cream to a pop (sorry for those who can't make it through a game without a flat beer, I know you're hurting much worse than I am). I'm ready to know the roster, see the O'Daniel, Ford, or whatever the former Jeep girls are called this year, and catch rubber chickens. In short, I'm ready for hockey night in Fort Wayne.

If Chaz Johnson put on a Komets uniform he'd be one of the most popular players in town because of the goonery he brings.

People have short memories when it comes to having "hate" for players once they put on the Komets uniform.

If Johnson fought Sgroi and then scored the winning goal what would you do, boo him?

JungleMonkey

Snuff, the point of people bellyaching at one another in this thread is that some of us refuse to fall in love with Jessie because a Franke has promised 35 goals. I don't like the way he plays the game and my opinion won't change because he's in Orange. Not every Komet fan views the world through orange glasses. If Chaz were here I'd have no respect for him either. Once they wear orange though, you have to conform and like them or you get the dreaded "negativity" tag...

Jon Booras, Nick Lindberg, Brett Lutes, Brian Bicek, Scott May, AJ Gale.... are all CHL guys that I'd welcome to Fort Wayne with open arms.

Some of us have long memories when it comes to dislike. I'd still boo Bruce Watson out of the building. Ted Laviolette falls into the same category. Thats a 10 year old memory.

JM, is 100% correct.

Players dont majically go from Demon to Saint just because they have started wearing the Komets sweater... Alot of fans think they do, however and will attack anyone who dares say anything deemed 'negative' about a Komets player...

We all have types or styles of players we enjoy to watch and those we dont. An opinion on a player is just that and NOT a demand that all others share that same sentiment...

Shawn, was listing Warner as a "top 6" defenseman, above Molle, your attempt at humor? If you meant it seriously, I want to remind you.....there's no place for that negativity towards the other defensemen on this blog. To imply that BW is better than some of the others on the roster is a terrible insult to the rest of the team. It seems that everyone on here wants to keep it clean, so help us out ;) lol

Mr Snufflupugus
Fri, 09/30/2011 - 12:47pm

I never said all fans would welcome him.

However there is a long history in sports of formerly hated players becoming fan favorites in towns they come to.

And JM, PLEASE stop with the "Franke has promised 35 goals"

He has not and cannot promise anything. To theorize he could score between 30-40 goals is not a stretch based on his past performance is not a far fetched stretch but there are no guarantees.

Years of hate of Scotty Gruhl vanished very quickly in this town....

For the record I am not a fan of Chaz Johnson and certainly have no use for Big Slinky. But I have seen alot of hate turn to love in sports over the years. Who would have ever thought Yankees fans could have cheered for Roger Clemens?
