Tailing the Komets

The latest on Chaulk

Unfortunately, there's not much new. Colin was examined this morning by team doctor Greg Sassmannshausen at Fort Wayne Orthpaedics and an MRI will be done on his leg sometime this week. The leg is healing, but this is a precautionary move, according to Komets General Manager David Franke.

``We need this done the sooner the better because the final playoff roster is due on Monday and we need to know if we have to make other arrangements,'' Franke said. ``Once they get the MRI done, they can let him know how much he can exercise on it. Right now he's still on crutches and they don't want him putting any weight on it.''

Franke said he expects Chaulk to miss the final three games this week and likely the first two games of the first-round playoff series.

If Chaulk is unable to play, the Komets will be scanning the waiver wire to look at picking up another veteran center if possible.

I'm a fan of Guinn. He has his pros and cons like anyone else. I appreciate his game record and the Komets are stronger for him. Not every team has a player like Guinn, and he deserves a veteran spot on the roster. And to what you said Blake, I agree fans are always harder on defensemen. But as I've always heard, offense brings the fans, defense wins the games.

I'm a fan of Blake's. Thanks Heather for throwing that slick one in on Blakester. I'll give a 5 spot for that Friday night. Just come see me. He almost said it too! Made him think though. A first....joking.

You know you guys would be damn bored if I didn't stir the pot sometimes. It makes for interesting blogging. Just like Enema Man, he makes for interesting "un-clogging" and he definitely can fill the pot.
What?

I am reading on another Komet blog site, sorry JC, that the possibilities of Chaulker coming back this year are slim and none, and I just saw slim get hit by a Jorde left hook. He had the MRI today and they couldn't even get a good read on it because he is so swollen. He is in tons of pain, cannot walk on it, and is unable to put any weight on it yet. The Frankes are still saying game 3 of the first round as a possible return. Chaulker is definitely not saying that from what I am hearing. Drouin and Luciuk are both preparing to move up a line to make-up for Chaulk not playing. We are still in need of a Veteran impact center.

Here is a question to all for shats and giggles:
Who on a non-playoff team would you like to see the Komets acquire on waivers, if that particular guy was waived.

I know this is dreaming some...but play the what if game, for fun.

Why don't we give it a day or two before jumping off a cliff? We don't know anything today that we didn't know yesterday. Even if the MRI had been perfect today, there's no way Chaulk would have been able to work out before Monday anyway, so what is lost right now? Nothing. You know if there's anyway he can go, Colin will go.

I know Blake, it just seems that time is the problem here. If it would have happended to him 5 weeks ago, we probably wouldn't be having this conversation. It just seems like it is going to be tough to come back so soon. We aren't talking a scratch are we? He was wounded in bad place for someone who SKATES.

I'll answer my own question since you don't like to have fun Blake. LOL....I have 4 guys in mind to acquire, here is the first:

Jason Sessa Elmira 52gm 21g 33a 54pts

As much as we'd benefit from Duhart I'd still have to boo him. He is my most hated player. Sorry.

He is one of those guys that you hate against you, love when he is one of yours. It would be the weirdest things in the world to see him in a Komet's Uniform, wouldn't it? Would he still blow kisses into the crowd after scoring a goal?

I remember one game I sat in the front row we were playing flint. I remember him blowing me kisses because I was holding a Duhart sucks sign. LOL. I wanted to get sick. I guess I can't say that if he were on our team I'd still boo him depends on what he did for us. I would be weird though.

He'd do what he does everywhere he plays....that is score, score, score and drive the other team nuts. And their crowd, too! I remember 2 years ago when he played for Flint and He scored 3 goals and I think he had 3 or 4 assists too. I was so mad that game. He killed us, and no one bothered to lay a body on him.

So who is your favorite player?

Tue, 04/11/2006 - 7:37pm

I'd have to say Kelly Miller. I just like his effort. I know he isn't the best player on the team, but he always hustles. He does a lot of the little things that go un-noticed. Faceoffs, penalty killing, etc. There are other guys a really like, too, but those are the guys that I think everyone likes.

Hit I have a question about your list. Do any of those guys fight??? If not I am not sure the Komets would want to bother with them. The key to a long Komets run would be to bring back Jeff Worlton!!

Funny boys. Funny!!!
I have never said that we need a bunch of guys who fight. Just a guy or two with enough courage to stand up when needed. I'm not in the minority on this. And Blake, you don't count anymore, you aren't a fan.
