Leave the sparklers at home

I must confess: The first time I ever got my hands on a firecracker as a kid, I thought: tin can! Now that fireworks are legal in Indiana, I'd watch out this Fourth of July, is all I'm saying. I have to say, though, that this never occurred to me:

Flying and fireworks don't mix.

With the busy July 4 travel weekend less than two weeks away, the Federal Aviation Administration warns passengers not to put firecrackers, sparklers or any other fireworks in carry-on or checked luggage.

Gee Leo, I think that people TRYING to carry fireworks on board a plane just might qualify for the "Special Kind Of Stupid" award this week, doncha think?

Not to mention that the ONLY difference between (the new legislation that allows) setting off fireworks, and shooting BLANKS from a gun is the fact that shooting a GUN (in a celebratory manner at least) is against the law (here)...
... and the LAST time I checked my chemistry...BOTH items achieve the EXACT same results from the EXACT same reaction.

HMMmmmmm...curiouser, and curiouser.
