Looking bad

If it's true that the longer the correction, the worse the original story, here's your entree to what must be the worst story of the year. At the end of the correction is this:

All these errors tended to give the story an anti-Summerlin tone, which was not intended and which the Sun regrets.

Not intended? Read the original story, with the correction added to the top, to see why this correction needs a correction. The first line of the story is, "Did they think it couldn't happen here, in Summerlin?" Is there anybody above the fifth grade who can't see the slam against the town that's being set up?
