Leave to CNN, in reporting the story of how Ginger Littleton tried unsuccessfully to disarm the  Panama City, Fla., school board meeting shooter with her purse, to include the detail we have all been waiting to hear:

But Littleton and her purse have shot to fame, with TV stations across the country airing the video. The faux crocodile leather handbag -- which contained a "lot of keys," a compact, a wallet, a cellphone and "bills I should be paying" when she swung it at Duke -- was handed down to her because it was too heavy for her 89-year-old mother-in-law.

Well, there you go. If it had been real crocodile leather and filled with bricks and doorknobs, she probably would have been a lot more effective.

Best headline, in the New York Post: "Purses! Foiled Again." You know what they say in Texas, right? Never bring a purse to a gunfight.
