Brian, you give your opinion....how much of your money runs this team?

C'mon Brian, your smart enough to know how silly the statement "buy the team" is... I dont have to spell it out for you do I?

Everyone has opinions about everything... Does that mean that those of us who have never straped on a gun and upheld the law can have an opinion about cops? Or those of us who have never had to try and make laws to govern millions of people should comment on politicians or the president? etc... etc... etc...

I hope those who bash those fans here who have a differing view than thiers, or dont own the team, or have never played hockey arent hypocritical enough to have opinions in other areas of life they have never actually done.......

I complained about the weather today....

Jr..last I checked this was a blog about a minor league hockey team. Hope your surley smart enough not to confuse that with politics. Maybe you posted on the wrong blog by accident. I think they have a blog on the opinion page. I'm sure you can find a nice debate on law inforcement and guns there

Let's see.. So .. If I'm getting this right we would be an AHL team , sell little advertising...have nothing but fighters ( had to get that in for you might lol)and the franchise will be here for another 50 yrs .. Oh and still have one of the best entertainment values around.

2 years ago I ran a promo that said produce my ad from the program and receive a discount. In a 3 month period I received 29 responses to that promotion from 21 unique customers. Several of those have become regular buyers. Just one example. I have done other things to measure as well.
Why do you ask? Do you believe advertising with the Komets is not good for a business? Granted you have to have a product or service people want or they won't buy no matter where you promote.

Hit in your case shouldn't it be "we make fun of hockey"?

Let's put it this way, with Snuff as my accountant, I've never yet had to worry about paying taxes. Of course, he hasn't exactly had a lot to work with, either. He does about as good a job as my barber.

Sure, most fans are apathetic, no matter how much advertising they are bombarded with. That's true. But if you think people are happy that stadiums don't have real names anymore or that the Orange Bowl is now the Discover Bowl or that the Fiesta Bowl is now the Tostitos Bowl (mmmmmm... Tostitos), you're fooling yourself.

The thing is that I see this as two seperate issues. I'm not against corporate sponsorship. Hey, the more money companies are willing to throw at a team, the better. That's not the problem. The problem is the mentality of selling all that's sacred or should be sacred to the highest bidder. I'm not going to blame the advertisers. They are doing nothing wrong. It's those who promise the advertisers space on everything except the players foreheads that's the problem. Look, we all know that this stuff is here to stay. Can't put that genie back in the bottle. But a line must be drawn. This far, no farther.

Hit what is all this about paying/playing and opinions? Your opinions are certainly good for comic relief. And sometimes you actually make some sense.
Opinions are just that. Really as useful as Ray Charles in a shooting gallery.
My opinion...this team couldn't score their way out of a womens prison. Until that changes Boucher had better keep stopping everything.
Wendy as a sports fan which I am I can see where you are coming from... The Poulon Weedwhacker bowl or whatever it was called was a bit much. I have no interest in sponsoring the urinals in the bathroom (something I have seen at another rink).
The ice reminds me of the old time ballparks with ads painted all over the outfield walls.
I think the economy has actually helped advertising. I learned a long time ago that you should actually advertise more when money is the tightest and business the slowest. It is during those times you need to seek out new business and so the advertising comes in to play.

Blake...did I forget to mention how I failed math in school so I apologize about your taxes...Blame my nursery school math teacher.
He did a fine job of teaching me that letters and numbers were different. Then those poopy teachers in middle school went and threw that out the window and put them back together again. I was lost!

I like the idea of a team of fighters,I can't remember the last fight at a home game :(
