One thing that torques me is the buying of stadiums or the naming rights, as Wendy was alluding too. Same with the bowls although there seem to be way too many of them anymore. Change that mess to a real play off system.

Something I've wondered about for many years now. Why is it people (myself included) pay a company, team, school, organization, etc. to advertise for them? I'm talking about clothing and the gazillion other things we pay money for because it has a certain logo or name on it.

IIRC this trend started in the mid '70s or so. Colleges are an exception, they've always had sweaters, etc. available although it use to be mainly alumni who wore them.

Use to be if you saw someone wearing a jacket that said "Blackhawks" on it he was a player on the team, pretty much the only people who had access to team branded clothing. Now we pay the team to wear it.

Worse yet IMO is paying corporations to wear their logos and names to advertise their products, whether it's golf balls, cars, tractors, or your accountant.

Wendy, there have been times in the past that you and I have been on the opposite sides on a lot of issues. However, it wouldn't be right of me not to thank you for your remarks concerning the advertisements. I think we see this the same way.

I'm not against anyone advertising per se, but I do get tired of the non stop sell. As you know, they do stop the clock in between periods ( mostly during the second intermission ) to get evrything done. Everything seems to be sponsored by someone or something. The argunent of "that's just the way the world is" doesn't make it with me either. As you said, "the world is what we make of it." How true. How is the world to learn of discontent until someone speaks out?

For fear of starting another wave of terror I sometimes get frustrated with WOWO also. I know they need advertisers to pay the bills for airing the games. My frustration comes from them always starting a series of ads when the K's are going on a power play or penalty kill. They can never get back to the action in time and that is the part of the game I do not want to miss.

No Touch Icing- I'm glad you got a laugh out of it. Don't know how that happened as I was very serious. I'll let it slide this time.

That's my point. People tend to take things out of context and are too serious about something that doesn't really matter in whole scheme of things.

That's just the way the world is. LOL. Some people either accept it or reject the idea, while others just like to whine about it.

Money talks, complaining about too much advertisement walks. It will remain that way until someone has enough juice to put an end to it, or anything else they don't like. That's science my friend, not belief.

Alan, the same is true on all broadcasts including television. We've seen it watching games on line (not just Komets for me), listening to radio broadcasts both on the radio and on line, and on TV. Some of the missed plays on TV due to commercials are legendary.

Remember in days gone bye college football games broadcasted on TV included the half-time shows with the bands and all? Not anymore, it's all commercials and commentators trying to convince how much they know about the game. Even in NFL games the only half time show broadcast is during the Superbowl.

I fear it is with us forever now and nothing we can do to change it, money needs to be made.
