I ask only one thing from komets fans......frankes didnt get dumb over night.....this year may be a down year.....hope they wake up and make the changes that need to be done.....but dont be like alot of sports fans who give up stop showing up and not supporting their favorite team because they arent doing well......typical fan of this cause is a colts fan......GO KOMETS

Quad City will clean their clock too. Maybe 4-2 or whatever. At least we are consistent. Lose lose lose lose! This is a crap year and i would be surprised if they even make the dance. Get ready for BIG changes next week. The question is "Will it be a heip?? If they give effort every night then yes. If not then you will see average crowds of around 4k. I still cannot understand how things got this bad. All i feel is that the Komets are now the laughing stock of the CHL. WHAT A MESS!!! Cant even fight good. Clone Schrock 20 times and we have a good team. Goodnight nurse!

Does this prove the IHL was a farce?

We have an IHL roster.

Our record is 5-12-1.

Worst team in the CHL.

The majority of the games this season the Komets don't even look like they belong on the ice with their opponents.

I know Super Fan thinks this league isn't anything special and that the IHL was either on par with or maybe even more talented than this CHL.

But how do we explain this???

You look at the other ex-IHL teams that joined the CHL, and they all made some changes to their rosters that brought in a different mix of players, and we stock-piled IHLers and Division 3 stars.

What went wrong with this team?

How is the climate in the locker-room??? Is there a problem there??? Wendy said there was 3-4 weeks ago and everyone shot her down and laughed at her.

Are there multiple problems that it is impossible to fix them all???

What should the Komets do now? What are your ideas Komet Fans and Super Fan?

Colin Chaulk....JM will love this......come home....LOL

I think this proves that they are/were different styles of leagues...

I think this proves that the K's as an organization (from top to bottom) came in un-prepared for this style of league. And they are slowly admitting this...

I think this proves the Frankes can be loyal to a fault sometimes (right or wrong) when it comes to the K's roster...

I think the K's have to make changes or abandon the "we make hockey fun" slogan. Hard to make that happen when your team is 5-12-1 and diehard fans are questioning your teams heart.

I think they Frankes are very proud of this organization and its traditions and they make the changes necessary to make the playoffs (all they have to do is climb 2 spots and hold on)...

I think my head hurts from thinking too much...

Wonder where the changes will start?

A coaching change would really rock the boat.

Waive topline veterans would send shockwaves.

But will they choose one of these paths?

And will they choose the right players to move along?

This week ought to be very very very interesting.

Bob Chase was waiting for a Franke during the 2nd intermission....as was I, but Steven didn't show, and the other Franke in the house must have been in the locker-room.

I honestly hate to see all of this happening.

I admit I was one of the people in the summer singing the praises of this roster.

I was wrong.

When do we see Shafronov back in a Komet Uniform, Bertram? Hukalo? dare I say Chaulk?

Where else do they find players?

Europe...about the time when some players start coming back home sick...

Hire an advisor with developmantal league experience...I've said it before. Leave Sims in place and see what he can do after some roster changes...

Put up or shut up time...

Where is Burgee.....he should have the answers here.

Isn't there a new Foo Foo Flavor that would solve this problem?

I still say that Sproat was a Genius for having this vision and being proactive this season with the new Marketing Campaign this year.

We Make Hockey Fun..........just in case our team sucks and we lose and drop to last place in this new league.

To make the playoffs they only have to beat out one team from our conference. Eight teams from each conference make the playoffs.

I saw my first Komet game in 1960, long-time season-ticket holder, game up season tickets three years ago because it just wasn't entertaining any longer in the UHL/IHL, whatever. I attended only four games each of the last two years and none so far this year and it looks like that might remain the case for the rest of this hockey season unless the urge to come out and watch a train wreck pulls me in. The evidence available to me just by listening/reading leads me to conclude that the CHL is much better competition and the IHL was a much lesser league. The only other explanation is that all the Komets got too old over last summer. I know if I am going to lose, then I am going to lose with young hungry players, not old ones on their way down and out. I am now spending my money for other athletic entertainment just across the river. The entertainment value for my money is much greater and I am having fun. How about you guys?

I am having more fun at the games this year than any year in the IHL. Theres more than just winning. The quality of hockey is actually good and it's quite refreshing. If the Komets can finally act like they belong on the same ice it'll be even better.

Things that deserve a Rick Roll

#1 Fans still bagging on the IHL and the championships won. There was nothing wrong with that league or the talent in it. Bad ownership in cities with poor economies doomed it. Yes the Komets won 3 in a row but nothing was handed to them.
#2 The same fans bagging on that league wishing that former players of that league would come back and thinking those players would somehow be the solution.
The IHL was a good idea. The IHL had good players. The IHL was competitive despite its financial issues. And you know what? I miss weekend games in Flint, Port Huron, Muskegon etc. How many of us made that game in Kansas Friday night? Kind of hard to get there to support the boys. Flint wasn't such a bad trip even if the folding chairs and the clogged toilets weren't so great.
#3 This team. This team is flawed. Has been since day one. It has nothing to do with IHL VS CHL and what is better I said at the end of last year it should have been a total house cleaning. I wanted everyone over the age of 28 (30 for sure) on this roster gone. I said give me a roster of 25 year olds. They might have had the same record right now. Difference is that could be a group that was hungry to win and grow together. How hungry is Guy? How hungry is Boucher? How hungry is Curd after having his AHL dreams shot down yet again? I know he is under 28 but how hungry is Warner? He has a lifetime pass and will never have to buy a meal in town again.

The Toronto Maple Leafs for several years had guys known as the Muskoka 5 (Sundin,Tucker, McCabe, Kubina, and Kaberle) who refused to waive their no trade clauses and get traded to contenders because they were comfortable and secure in Toronto. These guys handcuffed the Leafs for parts of 3 years. The Komets have their own set of Huntertown 5 (Warner Boucher Guy Curd PC) If they can't help this team then they need to go. Four of those 5 probably take up close to 1/2 the salary cap.
Time for this team to look to the future. Be thankful for the past but it is time to leave the past where it belongs.

Good post Snuff! Yes thanks to all for the past. Now let us move along on a new journey with new people. Wish we had young Thornsons Longs Repkas Madigans Pembrokes Ronsons etc. The list could go on but you get my point here. If those guys were around today they would be in the NHL. The I was a good idea for sure but half assed owners doomed it. The longest journey begins with a single step. Lets put that foot forward NOW!

Guess it's time to pull the trigger waive a few underachevers some that have been here for a few years. Time for some fresh blood with a little more drive to move up. Our goaltending is good find a couple real scorers a real heavyweight to police and protect. After that hope for the best, maybe make the playoffs.

More thoughts on the above. The Frankes are smart businessmen and they will fix this, but it might be too late for this season, maybe not. But the recent 3-game winning streak might not have been a good thing since it might have postponed the needed changes. I can't blame the Frankes for being loyal to key returning players. But this is a business and I have heard Michael say many times that the AA level is for kids to play 3-4 years and if they haven't moved up by then, it is time to go out and get a real job. Guy has earned his exception to that rule and should go out on his terms. The other exception might be goalies. I had no problem with the UHL and the new IHL in terms of geography and only a handful of teams. If you have good rivalries, you want to play the other teams a lot. I never complained about the number of times Ted Garvin brought Toledo to Fort Wayne. Same goes for the Indy Ice. The problem was the nightmares like Flint and our pizza buddies starting up in Dayton. When Kzoo bolted for the ECHL, that was a very bad sign. The economy killed the new IHL, especially in Michigan where the economy might never recover. Pickard got raked on this blog, but he isn't stupid and he worked for the Kzoo ownership too. Maybe Kzoo decided they needed to find a stable league. Maybe too Kzoo decided they couldn't compete with an 8,000 (avg paid attendance) gorilla in a AA league. I also recall the off-season where the Komets were anticipating too many veterans returning the following season because some tweeners became vets and after the league meetings it was announced that the veteran limit was going from 6 to 7. Why did that happen when everyone is trying to contain costs? If we look at what happened from a viewpoint outside the Fort, it can be understood why fans in other cities complained and referred to the league as the FHL. I applaud the Frankes for saving hockey in Fort Wayne and providing me countless thousands of hours of entertainment for many years. But my dollars are earned in the present, not in the past. So when the hockey got boring, the officiating got even more horrific than it had been, and I was attending 3 and sometimes 4 games in a week and not enjoying any of them, then it was time to move on. It wasn't the money as much as my time, especially at my age. I love wide-open, fast-skating hockey. To me the Olympic hockey tournament is as good as it gets. The Stanley Cup Playoffs are next. Old-time Komet hockey was not the answer for me when it meant more hooking, clutching, and grabbing. The NHL got it right when they clamped down on that so their young stars could shine. So I agree that when and if I get to a CHL game, I will probably like it more. During some of our last years in the old IHL when the Komets were struggling to compete with the affiliated teams, I went to every game to see the visiting teams play because they were good and entertaining to watch and to watch the Komets compete and still win a lot of games. Again I applaud the Frankes and I believe they will fix this. It will take a lot of patience from the fans that are there every game. If you are enjoying the games and are having fun, they please keep going. I will get there and check out some CHL action eventually, but it will never be at the same level of commitment over most of the last 30 years after I moved back to Fort Wayne.

all fans in ft wayne have been spoiled rotten. three championships in a row and now we have a bad start to a new season and ive never heard such moaning and crying. i dont think the chl is above the old ihl as i believe its on a par. we have just hit a slump and maybe we will come out of it and maybe we wont but its sure true that the games are fun to go to and the level of hockey skill is pretty darn good!if you think this is such a terrible year then i have only a few words for you. ralph keller, bob britt and welker. you think things are bad now?? you shudda been there for that crap starting in 1974 and lasting unti the frankes stepped in and resurected komet hockey. it will get better and remember, we cant be winners every year!

Germany.

The place to look for a replacement player or few, for a couple of players to develop into next season is Germany.

The next wave of players to invade North American hockey like the Russians did will be Germans, grab a few of the good young ones with promise now.
