Tailing the Komets

More on Chaulk

David Franke said it's a two-year deal, and he'll be one of the Komets' two summer contracts (the other is Nick Boucher), and that means they won't have to make a drastic roster move to fit him in. They expect him NYE. Chaulk will help with recruiting for next year as well, and marketing, etc., over the summer.

Artem Podshendyalov is waiting for immigration papers and may play Wednesday.

They are continuing to talk to Syro, but nothing definitive

Plus if we are going to give Al Sims and the Frankes a pass for the way things have gone saying things like "they aren't the ones on the ice" and "they can't go out and score goals for these guys" then we surely aren't going to put these losses and bad play on the fans.

Right?

Komets lose again. Time is running out. If Chaulk can't help this team then no one or nothing can.

This loss was Snuff's fault...it was he who said that Colin Chaulk shouldn't come back, and I think the team was hurt by Snuff's comments and their play tonight showed it.

Us fans should be ashamed of our effort in our team only scoring 48 goals in 23 games thus far.

I for onw will try harder and hopefully I can get us 10 points so we can be back in the playoff hunt....

Naurato will love Dayton.....they only have 150 fans and I don't think they have a blog.

I hope he doesn't read this blog any longer because I know Jungle Monkey is good for at least one time calling him a bum....right?

LOL

It's called being facetious. You guys fall for the bait every time.

I also find it interesting that every goal he's scored has been within two feet of the net, or about 20 feet closer than he ever got while playing here. Maybe he's more motivated? Who knows? What really baffles me is I've been watching all these games pretty closely, and there are players going to the net pretty consistently, but they still can't put the puck in. Colin Chaulk is a spectacular player, but he's not known for his shooting so who's he going to set up? Part of it? There's nobody except maybe Frankie on the blue line who can get the puck anywhere near the net with anything approaching velocity. That's the biggest difference I notice with Guy this year.

And for the record, I think it's all the media's fault. Without exception. Bunch of jerks!

Looking at our teams plus minus I think we need to improve the defense. Where is the number one and two d man on our team that it seems every other CHL team has

I over heard Dayton Management say that when signing Narauto that they didnt want to sign him and then him leave when a better offer came to him. So he said he would play for dayton again next year. Also that he left the Komets because he didnt see himself with the team any longer with the route they were taking. Dont know if it was bringing in other players, or because we are last in the league.

And what was the name of this member of Dayton's management?

I didnt see the name on his Gems badge. Next time we go i will ask the guy his name and will let you know.

They may wish to re-evaluate Lardner's tenure. 1pt in 9 games????? I'd keep Legault and Musclewhite and consider releasing Tab.

So you claim management but simply could've been a volunteer off ice official like Schebig...Complete hearsay

Yes could have been but highly doubt he was an off ice official. Sorry GM, guess i shouldnt have said anything didnt know i was gonna get attacked on here. So i will make ya happy and ask Blake if he will erase my post. Sorry Nothing to see here! Figured i could add alittle to the blog like everyone else but i guess i was mistaken. If it was some fan i wouldnt have even bothered to add it to the blog. So Blake when you read this will you erase my previous post about Naurato. Thank you

Not attacking you by any stretch, simply pointing out that if you don't know who it was how can you claim it was someone from Dayton's management...All because he's in a suit and wearing a creational doesn't mean he's someone like the GM

Anybody not playing playoff style hockey right now should be shown the door... These next few games (starting last night) are their last chances to stake a claim on a roster spot. The Frankes are FINALLY starting to make moves and I hope they have some non-IHL'ers on thier scope targeted...

On Narauto, Nodody finds it interesting that he goes to a new team and starts contributing right away? These are guys he's never played with, has had no time to jell with his new linemates, and yet is scoring....... To me that speaks volumes about the the K's roster and sytems they are running...

I just wish Narauto would have stuck around because he would be a perfect linemate for a player like Chaulk, IMO...

Systems... its all about style of play. Our coach refuses to adjust and adhere. Al's a smart guy, but I think his style lends itself more to clutch and grab rather than run and gun. It's apparent when we play CHL (non-ihl2) teams. Chaulk's return can't hurt the team, but I question its ability to help the problems that exist. I think the Komets need to re-evaluate their entire organization from GM, to coach, to players. When you have this kind of start everyone should be on the hot seat.

Narauto and Patrosso were Hell on skates when they played together against us. Narauto was "invisible" when he played for the Komets. As soon as he started playing for Dayton, he instantly became a goal scorer against us and a definite presence on the ice. If we can't blame the negative bloggers, it must be the Fort Wayne water!

Why would it speak to the system and not the player? Maybe he wasn't trying his best every night? I understand that he might have had a slow start this year with adjusting to a new style and new group of guys, but three goals in three nights vs. the Komets speak a little more to his effort and wanting to prove what we lost in releasing him. If he keeps up this goal a game for the next two weeks, I will give you the fact that he is the next Sid the Kid!

Mon, 12/27/2010 - 11:24am

Nobody said he was the next coming of Crosby; but when you have alot of players that have scored in the past that arent scoring this season who get released and immediately start to score with their new team what do you call that? We have about 7 guys that the K's were boasting should score 30 goals apeice this season and I doubt they've combined for half of that.

There are major problems on this team that many saw from opening night that have not been addressed. We all see it; but for some reason the Komets are bound and determined to make it work this season with former IHL talent. Some of these guys rumored havent even played this season...is that the answer? How long will it take to get them into game shape? Syro and Shaf were slow by IHL standards and we constantly complained about Syro's habit of floating and never using that big frame of his. Those complaints will be compounded in this faster more mobile league.

As stated before Lardner should be kept, his effort game in and game out is there, breaking up on ice rushes, penalty killing, just an all out effort....LeGault should go first; certainly Warner as well but I feel there is more to his staying than just hockey.

I would find it funny if the Komets starting winning and made a long run in the playoffs since Chaulk came back. You would have to find humor in the situation. It's one guy.

Then again one guy can make all the difference. Not to take anything away from him, he's a good player and a decent person.

I would just find it funny if he made all the difference. But, whatever works I guess.

I think some of the rumors involving bringing back guys from past season's or last season that haven't played (Syro for instance) is attractive to the team because they don't have to give up anything to get these guys. No trades.......If you can bring in someone that might be able to help the team, and it costs you nothing that is def. a good thing versus trading talent for talent.

JR1
Mon, 12/27/2010 - 1:16pm

Andy, the only thing you could possibly lose is good young talent since the K's seem reluctant to release or trade the beloved vets who arent producing... I do see your point about bringing in non contracted players; but I think they could do the same by finding some younger talent in the SPHL or another "A" level league. Give those guys a shot. Those guys are stoll working hard to achieve a dream, not players who retired who may still have a little itch that needs scratched.

RunningKomet

The reason they keep going for the ex-IHLers is because the old IHL was a far superior league, ask anyone. Plus, if you load up with a bunch of big names from the IHL, you'll be able to use that superior talent to dominate the lesser talent of the CHL. That'll end the CHL vs. IHL debate. Oh, wait...

Re: Lardner. I'm not saying he shouldn't be kept. But if I had to choose between Musclewhite (top pts per game on team. Not sure if he is on the PP or not but 5-on-5 he is the top on the team and has an even +/-). Legault brings a quality to the team that no one else does. I suppose I just figured that they went out to get Lardner for his offensive contributions, not his defensive abilities. I will need to re-focus on his game and what he brings. If it's defensive, so be it.

JR1
Mon, 12/27/2010 - 2:10pm

What does Legault bring that no one else does? His ability to lose or tie every fight he's in?

Well, if I'm Al and I need to send a player over the boards, as willing as Shrock is, I ain't sending him. "Hmmm, who else?" as I stroll down the bench looking at sweater numbers, "who else?"
