Narcissist of the Year

I've though some of the people who contribute items to The News-Sentinel's "Rants" feature must be the most dyspeptic cranks in the state, but whoever was responsible for this takes the prize:

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The mother of an Indiana University student missing since June says she was hurt by an anonymous letter complaining about Bloomington being littered with search posters.

Charlene Spierer (SPEER'-ur) says she found the unsigned letter when checking the Bloomington post office box set up to receive tips about what happened to 20-year-old Lauren Spierer. The Herald-Times reports (http://bit.ly/p5H16t ) that Spierer's message was posted Thursday on a website dedicated to the search.

Yeah, you selfish loon, putting all those ugly posters up where I have to see them. And would you please stop getting on TV all the time whining about your damn missing daughter? It just ruins my enjoyment of all those "Law & Order" reruns.

Police should check the letter for handwriting and other clues about who may have sent it. It could be there is a personal connection here - similar to how arsonists are known to sometimes hide in the crowd of onlookers to view their own work. Or perhaps it's like the murderer who shuns the photos of the victim that the police lay on the table before him.
