Tailing the Komets

New faces at practice

The Komets had right wing Marc Rechlicz and left wing Zak Ray at practice today, and Komets general manager David Franke said the team expects Rechlicz to be in the lineup Friday night.

Rechlicz, 6-4, 193 pounds, played for Quad City last year, scoring one goal and three points in 68 games with 170 penalty minutes. The Komets tried to sign him over the summer, but he's been with Wheeling of the ECHL. Ray, 6-1, 196, is a rookie who scored eight goals and 14 points last year with Oakville of the Ontario Junior Hockey League. He has not been playing this season so he needs to get in shape, and the Komets need to get his immigration papers figured out before he can sign.

Danko Mironovic sat out Friday's game with a thumb fracture which has been bothering him since training camp. He's been trying to play through the fracture.

Brant Blackned?

Do we have a helmet big enough for that cat's head??? He prefers to cut holes in it to see out....he can't fly though.

I am just ready to see some hockey in person this weekend....that enough should make the Komets play better....thousands of rabid Komet Fans....and SuperFan lurking from the balcony...what more do they need???

Let's play some Komet Hockey this weekend....no more excuses.

If PC says they need to play 60 minutes of hockey....well....he better back it up.

The only problem with Worlton's helmet would be the marks on it when Jeff would throw it on the ice. You all remember. It always occurred just before he stopped someone's fist with his face.

Blake wrote, " I've heard there might be another new player coming in, too, but Franke declined to comment on that." Posters above referencing Anton Kharin have me intrigued.

When he signed with Muskegon a couple of years ago the Fury were real high on him. He played with Kalamazoo last year along with Curadeau.

Just for giggles does anyone have his stats for last year? Games played, goals and assists, etc.

Franke stated that the players coming out flat at the start of games is something that they, themselves, have to fix. Well, this is one way to do that. Bring players in to challenge them and keep them on their toes.

With a 1-2-1 record I would think that very few jobs are safe.

A quick shout out to Tim Hoke and Dschebig. Hope things are going well for you both. Miss your comments and insights. Hope Mike in Toronto is well. Haven't seen any posts from him for a long time. Maybe he could update us on how Chaulk is doing.

Thanks Blake for keeping us informed.

Anton Kharin's stats:

He got released from Greenville last I heard. He was tearing up the ECHL early, then got injured...

Thanks, JR.

According to the Komets website the Blue Jackets have sent down Chris Francis, a center, from Springfield. One goal and one assist in four games with Springfield. Also, alomg with Rechlicz now on the roster the K's have waived Ward and Fletcher.

Ya know what? I still hope they look to see if Kharin is available.

Sorry to see Fletcher go, dude had some hustle. I'd take Kharin in a heartbeat, injury prone or not. I remember him being pretty good with Musky a couple years ago. Of course I also remember him knocking himself silly against the boards during the finals too. At least I think that was him...

Crap, I liked how Fletcher played.....

Anyone else notice that with the additions of Francis and Rechliez that 6 of the K's ten forwards are now American born???

To me Kharin was a whole lot of speed with nothing getting accomplished.

Komets have no interest in Kharin.

So Kharin was Pascal Morency?

(Save the boo's and hisses...I know he won 2 fights a year and is worthy of hall of fame status.)

I agree, Kharin was all speed and nothing getting done...???

Really?

15 points in 10 games with the IHL Fury Jacks.

and 9 points in 7 games with the ECHL K-Wings.

I wouldn't have any interest in a speedy playmaker that puts up points either.

There might be an injury issue that I am not aware of though.

But if the dude is healthy, how couldn't there be interest???

Seriously?

I also have to seriously question your comment about Kharin getting nothing done...Have you ever looked at his stats?

Yep. To me he was one of those guys who were out there doing figure eights.

So what is BWs doing on the ice?

Kharin played the last 10 games of the season and playoffs in Musky.....and then played the first 7 games in K-Zoo before injury.

If he is injured, that is one thing.....but if healthy.....wow, why not give him a shot. He might be the piece that is missing here.

But to say that he only plays 10 games and then moves on.....that is not the case with this guy Blake.
