Just got off the phone with David Franke and he's feeling very good about the meetings.
``I think the direction that this league is going to take in the future will totally be from a geographic standpoint,'' he said. ``For the first time since I've been involved in this business (back to the mid-1980s) georgraphy has been decided upon as the main factor in the league's make-up. I think we're going to be a lot stronger in the future.''
There's no change in the veteran rule or in the roster size. He said the schedule will be the best the Komets have ever had in the UHL, cutting down on travel and wear and tear on the players. He also said he believes the hard cap can and will be enforced.
Lance Galbraith has a player-option on his contract, and he can sign somewhere else, but first he has to clear UHL waivers. That has not happened, but probably will.
David Hukalo has signed and offer sheet, not a contract. They could not sign players to contracts until after the league meetings, and that will be taken care of next week. So far no other player has signed.

You guys made me laugh this morning when I read all the blogs.... THANKS. I think everyone is up in arms because there will be very few returning players. We'll know the beginning next week. I suppose Marks will be the coach and then the team will get really put together. It is fun just watching everything come together this year. 4 months till the real fun begins.
This off season of change has gotten my dad back and interested in Komet hockey again... He is very interested in what the Frankes do this time around...coach, line up, etc... Of course it will only take about 2 games of horrible officiating to drive him away again; but at least he is interested for now again...
Kometsrock I believe you are right. I think people are so up in arms about the lack of returning players that in a state of daze and confusion you will see Komet fans by the hundreds walking naked up and down Pontiac Street yelling "GIMMIE BACK MY SON!!!"
If it's on Pontiac street it might be for another reason.
I'm not that worried about who they bring back because of the fact that we lost 5 teams. A lot of extra players to go around and I know the Frankes will be right in the thick of making sure we get the right ones(hopefully).
