We don't have to turn our pork chops into rubber anymore:

Finally, the government agrees that pig should be pink. On the inside, at least.

There's no reason to avoid rare pork. In fact, it's juicier and tastier and the shoe-leather variety most Americans eat. Give it a try. You'll like it.
Babies, on the other hand, should be cooked medium-well, because of their poor hygiene. Baste often.
