Tailing the Komets

Schedule pushed back... again

Komets general manager David Franke just said the CHL has requested some more information and time and the 2010-11 schedule may not be released until next week.

Franke also said he expects to hear from Frankie DeAngelis this week, Guy Dupuis and Brandon Warner. He said the Komets will not try to replace Matt Syroczynski in the lineup because they don't have the payroll left for a first-line player.

``We don't have the money to afford a high-priced foward now,'' Franke said. ``We're looking more toward the young kids, and we've got a few that we'll announce this week. We don' t have the money on the cap. Once we made the move on (Mathieu) Curadeau, that kind of tightened everything up.''

Franke said contract offers to Dupuis, Warner and DeAngelis were all factored into the salary cap before the Curadeau signing.

Enforcers have feelings too. :-)

Actually, I would guess they totally expect it and don't care. They had to know going in this was going to be the response.

The league must have high hopes of expanding. Sounds familiar, like when the IHL thought they were going to also.

I, too, have been hoping for a "clarification day" from the CHL as it pertains to rosters, salary caps, vet limits, and more or less the schedule. I have been patient knowing that all this will come to be in its own time. My only problem has been the STH deadline as it seems only fair to have a reasonable amount of time to make some decisions. ( I have posted all this before.)

As the off season has progressed, most of my questions have been answered by the various Komet announcements. It seems to me that there will be a 66 game schedule. Maybe 70 games. (Still confused by some of the stories I hear and read.) The salary cap is lower than I would have liked. The vet limit is 33% lower than I wish it would be. The schedule? I know the season is going to start on October 16th so it doesn't really matter to me when it is announced.

The playoffs for the CHL has erupted into a needless issue as far as I'm concerned. Yes, I know it seems crazy to play a whole season just to eliminate two teams, but so what? Everybody has to decide for themselves whether it is something to get all hot and bothered about. For me, I'm just going to go with the flow and see where it all leads.

I agree with what Wendy posted. When quoting someone or some article, use quotation marks or some other form of reference so we know whose words we are reading. I also agree that telling someone that "if you go away we won't miss you", or to "keep their mouths shut" is wrong. Everyone has an opinion and should be given respect. The best way to confront an opinion that is distasteful is to use facts to defeat it.

To Not an IHL fan: I have read every one of your posts and marvel at the fact that someone can be so negative all the time. From the Franke bashing, "I blame the Franke's for everything", to the "its too bad they have blinders on", to the ridicule of the IHL and CHL at every chance, I am left wondering if anything about the Komets is positive in your mind. If so, what? If not, then I wonder if you think you have convinced anyone with your posts? It appears to me that you have defeated your purpose as I think most on this blog just brush you off. Still, saying all of that I will encourage you contribute as you may. Your opinion has just as much right to be on this blog as any other.

I, like most of you, am real interested in hearing the next round of announcements.

Everybody take care.

"It is just not good to take the cake out of the oven until it is fully baked" (My Mother) Information will come when the time is right and proper and not until! It is good to know what we know so far.

There are more questions to be answered. We all want to know what the salary cap will be. I think it went up some. It appears the vet limit is at 4 for this coming season. I personally would have liked 1 or 2 more. I can live with it at 4 not counting the goalie.

The play-off format does seem a little on the wild side but since I don't have a dog in that fight (own a team) I don't really care. In my opinion neither should the media.

I have chosen to not pay any attention to notanihlfan. whoever that may be is just not worth the effort to read. Way to negative for my blood.

Alan-I enjoy them even if no one else does! Always well thought out and interesting. I may have a different point of view or take on something every once in a while but you are always well written. Maybe a little long but since "Superfan" get paid by the word type on.

Dschebig: So true. Thus far, all the league news has been half-baked.

I am a big boy. I can handle being told that I won't be missed. While I am not being missed, I will be watching hockey games of higher caliber that include a few players with a chance to play in the AHL or NHL. Everyone on this blog is entitled to his or her opinion, even those who disagree with me.

Tim-As Blake has pointed out to me any response lets them eat at the table. A table they are not worthy of. So the best things to do is just pretend they they aren't here. Works for me, give it a try.
