Opening Arguments

Screwed again

The U.S. Senate overwhelmingly (74-25) approved the $700 billion bailout rescue heroic self-sacrifice effort. Our two senators were on guess which side:

"The financial rescue legislation will restore credit flow to homeowners, businesses, farmers and all the people who, by the very nature of their businesses, need to borrow money to maintain their activity and keep employees. Failure to pass such legislation would lead to massive unemployment and failure of small business and farming operations in Indiana. That is unacceptable." - Sen. Dick Lugar, Republican.

"Regrettably, there are no good options. But the current plan is far better than the original proposal. ... The current proposal is no panacea. More difficult decisions lie ahead. But it is better than doing nothing, and that is the alternative. This is a distasteful but necessary step to protect millions of innocent people from the malfeasance of a few." - Sen. Evan Bayh, Democrat.

I think a lot of my future political leanings in Indiana might be decided by whichever party has a good, credible primary candidate against the too-long-away-from-real-life  Lugar and Bayh.

Did you notice the line, "Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama, were making rare appearances to vote their support"? Rare appearances? Shouldn't we make people keep working at their old job while they look for a new one?
