IUPUI has withdrawn a reprimand issued to a janitor after co-workers complained about him reading a book about the University of Notre Dame's fight against the Ku Klux Klan.
But Keith John Sampson, also a student at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, said he's still waiting for an apology from university officials and answers to questions about how the allegation was handled.
The university's affirmative action officer wrote to Sampson on Nov. 25, saying that reading the book "Notre Dame vs. the Klan: How the Fighting Irish defeated the Ku Klux Klan" was racial harassment.
Never underestimate the power of bad publicity to make bureaucrats discover a little humanity. IUPU reaped scorn from all over the country.
