Opening Arguments

Serve me, now!

Here's a misstep from the "make government smaller and less costly" guy:

New Jersey motorists won't be pumping their own gas any time soon. Gov. Chris Christie said during a radio appearance on Tuesday he won't support legislation to allow for self-service gasoline because most residents don't want it. Christie campaigned in 2009 about allowing self-service, but he dropped the proposal because of push-back from drivers.

Awww, poor babies don't want to made to get out of those nice, comfy cars and pump that nasty, smelly old gasoline themselves. East Coast fraidy cat, namby-pamby wusses.

So let me ponder the logic. Christie specifically campaigns on allowing self-serve gasoline stations and he is elected governor. Sound like positive approval rating on his idea.

But wait .... now drivers, who obviously didn't vote for Christie, are pushing back against the idea. Therefore, Christie needs to tell the NEA union wimps to buzz off because they lost the election.
