The "I don't have any sticks and stones, so I'll do the best I can with names" attack:
"What Alex did was wrong and he will have to live with the damage he has done to his name and reputation," the commissioner said Thursday, three days after the Yankees star admitted using banned substances from 2001-2003 while playing for the Texas Rangers.
"While Alex deserves credit for publicly confronting the issue, there is no valid excuse for using such substances, and those who use them have shamed the game," Selig said.
Since Rodriiuez used those substances before there was a testing program and punishment for using them, "shaming the game" seems a bit strong. Besides, anybody who'd leave his wife for Madonna isn't capable of feeling shame anyway. I'd say he's disgraced the whole male species, but, unfortunately, there's no testing program for that, either.

Is it just me, or do most other folks not give a flying fark about baseball anymore?
I grew up playing baseball and absolutely loving the game in the 60's and 70's. The first strike in the early 70's didn't seem to yank me or most folks outta shape, seems as though it was the long strike in the early 80's and the million dollars salaries that started my "disinterest".
Cancelling the world series in 94 put the nail in the coffin for me. I'll say one thing, the unions did their job well. I say let 'em all do acid and make the baselines "serpentine" just for fun, maybe I'd watch again then.
