Sick to death of taxes

Sounds good to me:

Since 1913, Indiana has endorsed some form of death transfer taxation, and it is time to repeal this outdated tax. I adamantly believe this is an unfair tax, and that Hoosiers should be able to leave their heirs an inheritance without the government imposing taxes. I have proposed legislation to repeal all three forms of the death tax, but, unfortunately, it never received a committee hearing.

Go ahead and tell me what jerks people with inherited wealth can be. The point is still that the government gets plenty of bites at the apple. At least leave us alone when we die.

A guy's claim to his wages at the end of the week is much stronger than an heir's claim to a decedent's estate. So, if we are going to eliminate or reduce taxes, we should start with the income tax and leave the estate tax in place until some of the more burdensome taxes are gone.

I suppose if the dead guy wants to be buried with his money, I could see exempting that wealth from taxation. If he wants the State to use its courts and police force and whatnot to protect his heir's right to receive good, enforceable title to the decedent's property, I find the estate tax less objectionable than the income tax.

Wealth has already been taxed multiple times by our income, sales, excise, payroll and property tax systems. Not to worry ...not even death can stop government from taking even more. Only the living can end the ongoing barrage set to make taxes into a total wealth redistribution system.

20 states have estate taxes and five also have inheritance taxes. Indiana is one of the inheritance tax states. Strangely, charitable estate distributions and those going to surviving spouses are tax free but don't you dare include your children in your will!

These taxes only affect the wealthiest individuals, not average smoes like you or I

Does paris Hilton really deserve all that loot for doing absolutely nothing?

Buffet believes in estate taxes, so does investment guru John Bogle (distant relation) ;) - I woul be happy to pay a share of that estate if I could get some of it.

AJ Boyle says:

"These taxes only affect the wealthiest individuals, not average smoes like you or I."

German Pastor Martin Niemoller wrote the poem "First They Came" about Hitler in 1934. Mark Steyn's recent update of the poem appropriately answers Mr. Boyle:

"First they came for Piglet, and I did not speak out because I was not a Disney character and, if I was, I'm more of an Eeyore. So then they came for the Three Little Pigs, and Babe, and by the time I realized my country had turned into a 24/7 Looney Tunes it was too late, because there was no Porky Pig to stammer "Th-th-th-that's all, folks!" and bring the nightmare to an end."
