Snow job

We can't let Illinois politicians have all the headline-grabbing fun:

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - A former Roseland Town Council member has been ordered to report to jail after a judge saw a video of him running a snowblower and accused him of making a mockery of a sentence to perform 300 hours of community service.

David Snyder had said on Jan. 15 that physical ailments had limited his ability to do community service. But a day earlier, a snowplow operator used his cell phone to take video of Snyder using a snowblower outside his home.

"The man was snowblowing!" St. Joseph Superior Judge Jerome Frese said Thursday. "I mean do we need more evidence of gaming the system? ... There has been a mockery of following the rules in this case."

Have to love the judicious use of the exclamation point. He was snowblowing! About all that's missing is the press conference in which the accused said, "I am not physically capable of doing my community service, and I dare you to follow me around and prove otherwise."
