Tailing the Komets

So long... for a while

As long as I can get approval from Hit Somebody, I'm going on vacation until early July. Behave yourselves. Please. I'll be spending all the ill-gotten gains I've received from running this blog over the last few years on wine, women and song, meaning it'll be water, Barbie and the Bee Gees marathon. No foo foos for me. Then it will be time to come back and start on the football tab.

I think this pertains to this blog.

Judgment vs. evaluation: if you look at a couple of different light sources, say a candle and a 100 watt light bulb, or the sun and the light bulb, you may be able to notice the relative difference in the amount of light being emitted. An evaluation would simply state that one is brighter than the other. A judgment would condemn one as too bright, or the other as not bright enough.

Critical thinking vs. criticizing: both require the ability to notice and to observe. However, critical thinking is more akin to evaluation while criticizing is more akin to judgment in that those who criticize often add an element of negativity to the observation.

I wrote a term paper about boycotts once. :D

If a person likes something, they will generally try to convince others to like it as well. So why shouldn't those who are boycotting encouraging other people who might be sitting on the fence to join their protest? A boycott, by it's very nature, is only effective if a signifcant number of people join it. If no one knows about it, they aren't likely to do that.

But like I said, I don't expect that to happen here. Those who are protesting need to be doing so because they simply can't bring themselves to attend events by an organization they disagree with so strongly, not because they expect anyone working for the Komets to lose sleep over their absence.

And I like asparagus okay. But liver is the cotton candy (not in a good way) of meats. What is up with that?

There is nothing wrong with questioning and even some constructive critique of the team.
It is the nasty comments about the Franke family which have no value or basis in fact that get on my nerves quickly.

Agreed here as well. There are one or two people on the other blog who seem convinced that the Frankes are the anti-Christ or something. That's a sign of a person who has lost touch with logical thinking. Their overzealous approach destroys any point they were trying to make.

Snuff those people that slam the Frankes all the time are the ones that were keeping me away from here. Yes people who do not agree with stuff have all the right to express themselves! We all want what is best for the paying fans. pointless attacks on the Frankes is way out of line. Now did this sound holier than thou type of post?

Here's one for you. Are those who are close to the Komets unswervingly loyal because of the perks, or are they close to the Komets because of their unswerving loyalty?

Wendy I can't speak for others only myself.
I have been a fan of this team for around 20 years and only in the last 4 years became involved with them on a business level.
I look at the time and work Michael and David Franke + Scott Sproat put into this team and the type of human beings they are and can tell you firmly that on both a business and personal level they have earned my loyalty.

From the people I've met, that's been my impression. That those who do have connections to the team are in that position because they were such ardent supporters in the Komets in the first place. But it is also true that the those the Komets have welcomed with open arms in their dealings have every reason to remain loyal. I know they take good care of you guys.

Wendy from a business standpoint I can assure you I could care less about any perks I get. I look at the results I get from my advertising and how it changes my bottom line. Believe me, if the product on/off the ice was not bringing in fans who were in turn buying what I am selling, I would still remain a loyal fan of the team but I would not be advertising.
That is kind of the point I was trying to tell those who proudly puff out their chests and threaten to not renew season tickets or go to games. Basically, ok...goodbye... but please leave quietly. No need to cause a fuss on the way out.

All of the titans of industry from Fort Wayne that work with the Komets and explain simple economics to everyone over and over, yet the economy around here is somehow struggling... Maybe the Komets could somehow develop a public service and expand the Moore Money Minute to a full-time show and have some of these people on it to save the economy of Fort Wayne from the simple people before they totally wreck it? Wait, that would also make more advertising opportunities! Maybe this whole economics thing isn't as difficult as we are made to believe?
