Justin Cross is retiring.
Sean O'Connor is likely to sign in the ECHL with Wheeling.
Justin Hodgman is going to sign with Rockford of the AHL.
Rick Varone is still deciding.
There's another BIG surprise coming next week. I'm not giving any hints other than that, so don't ask.
Also, I don't do this very often, but I think those of you who do not buy the paper or read anything other than Komets stories might get a lot out of reading this story, My Daddy Played Wildcat, Too. This is one very special little boy who has inspired me.

A new scoreboard? HA HA HA.
A new downtown arena.
Icy is getting to be an old bird like the rest of them, time for some good rookie signings!
I think it's that Johnny from the Tin Caps is going to be involved in the mascot hockey games in between periods during a boring Wednesday night game sometime in mid-February....
I doubt the MC lets any Tin Cap stuff happen at the MC. I can't wait for Randy Brown to see all the TC hats durning the Komet games!!!!
robin BIGsnake= think about it.
Maybe they have gotten together with the Mayor and are gonna have a winter Classic Komets Vs Gems Game at Parkview Field. Randy Brown would be Crapping in his shorts. Sounds good to me, Watching hockey while eating apple crisp ala mode. Where do i get my tix!!!
Hey RunningKomet...
I don't think I ever said that blake doesn't know about "It"..."It" just gets old with this league that there is going to be announcements and future announcements about something "big" that is going to happen. Don't even say anything if you can't say what it is!
Dschebig- I think most of us with some intelligence (not that this league isn't) could put together a schedule and have everything worked out by now. It isn't rocket science.
I second the Winter Classic idea. That would be awesome. :D
I used to work for the IHL making schedules, but I'm a rocket scientist and they don't need me anymore. (It's a commercial in-case any of you don't get it).
Jonndfi: Did you not say "I like how everybody has big announcements yet nothing ever comes of it," implying there was no big announcement in the first place and that Blake (whom you also said you hate: "I hate people that have a big announcement but can
You shouldn't hate, that's terrible
I'll third the Winter Classic idea, that would be awesome! I'd be there, you just wouldn't recognize me under all the layers of clothing!
Jonndfi- I kind of agree with you. I know it's not rocket science. Having said that, it's not as easy as we all would think. Let's assume (that's dangerous) that you have Football, basketball, and a college that have a scheduling conflict with just one building. I have left out concerts or shows of any kind. You have a conflict with several dates. If it involves an NCAA team not only have you got to get the other team to work out the change but the NCAA must sign off. It goes on and on and on. That is only one team with the conflict on one date. Take that times 7 teams with 72 games plus pre-season. Some dates just become huge problems. All I was trying to say is it is only July (well almost August) I can wait another week or even two if that's what it takes so there are no changes when the schedules finally go to the printer. "Patients" it's a vurtue. I said all of that and the bottom line is your right also,
id like to see him try and make out a schedule sometime if its so easy! making a schedule is probably one of the hardest more nerve racking things to do in all of sports. as far as saying something as a teaser, you must live in a shell becasue the whole entertainment and news world is based on teasers to the public, there are movie trailers, news stations that say more at eleven and how about the shows that give a good headline but make you wait the whole show until its actually talked about? its called hype and its used everyday to get and hold your attention. it wont change cause it works!
big surprise might be henley but that would give us too many vets!! i would have to second guess and say hodgeman.
Didn't Blake just state above "Justin Hodgman is going to sign with Rockford of the AHL"?
ya, not sure we need henley. as stated above, we probably don't even need legault. teasers make the world go around. patiENCE is a virtue... truer words have not been spoken. still, fun to know something is coming and then see what all everyone can come up with on here before the big announcement.
I know what the BIG surprise is.....Hee hee hee
big surprise is that sims has signed a contract extension? i believe this is his last year on this contract. if we win another championship, you know he is gonna be getting some serious attention from alot of other teams. so, him being here next season would really surprise and make me happy.
Goodwin? Curadeau?
I know what the "surprise" is as a good friend informed me. I can tell you that it isn't Legault ( who I mentioned earlier) or Henley, Goodwin, Hodgman or Curredaeu. I can tell you all that much without betraying the trust this person had when he asked me to keep it to myself until the announcement was made.
Since everyone knows about the BIG surprise, can we get a definitive date when it'll be officially announced?
is it a former komet? im not asking you blake.........
Alan - If you really know, then you also understand why I said the answer to your earlier question is Yes.
I know somebody who tried to let you all know who the big surprise is by posting it here on this blog and was censored by the "moderating team"..... So you can all thank the News Sentinel for keeping you guys in the dark....
Starting to rethink my subscription renewal for the newspaper right about now....
Bloomington will be signing Ryan Finnerty, they are putting a good team together.
If it's Henley, somebody ask him where my negative is! LOL.
Rick: Gah! Alan said, "I wonder if he is hinting at a signing of a player who is
To Rick: Yes, I understood what you meant. This person is big in both categories I questioned.
Wendy, you can get in touch with Henley by contacting Norfolk hockey club. I don't remember the ladies name, but she can help you.
Best quote ever said about Henley: "He's one of those guys who eats straw and craps in the street. He's a horse!" said by Jack Hammer on 92.3.
