Justin Cross is retiring.
Sean O'Connor is likely to sign in the ECHL with Wheeling.
Justin Hodgman is going to sign with Rockford of the AHL.
Rick Varone is still deciding.
There's another BIG surprise coming next week. I'm not giving any hints other than that, so don't ask.
Also, I don't do this very often, but I think those of you who do not buy the paper or read anything other than Komets stories might get a lot out of reading this story, My Daddy Played Wildcat, Too. This is one very special little boy who has inspired me.

Do I smell a D-man from a couple seasons ago coming back?
In regards to a D-Man , maybe Mario Laroque?
So... Chocolate vanilla twist, then? :D
Thanks mightbite, but I actually have a direct email for him from when Blake put us in touch with each other. He was just kind of terse about communicating, so I decided it was better to leave him alone. And I wanted to respect his privacy, of course. But, okay yeah, I was a little mystified when I sent him the negative and never heard another word from him even to say he had received it okay. :s
Here's a question, though. I remember hearing last summer that the Komets home sweaters were going to be redesigned for this season. Is that still happening?
The big news is Hardy Astrom is going to be named Komets goalie coach.

Alright, someone asked me today why the team is called the Komets? Does anyone have the REAL answer? I figured I'd ask on here because I'm sure someone knows. Maybe it's common knowledge?
Yes, you can find the answer in blakes book! On sale now!
How did I know I was going to get that answer?
Nevermind, I found it myself on google. It's amazing how much speed, flash, and excitement the Internet has these days, isn't it Burgee?
Yes, isn't it something.
Just in case you want to buy a copy I think you can get there with this link http://www.authorhouse.com/BookStore/BookStoreSearchResults.aspx?SearchType=smpl&SearchTerm=Blake+Sebring
Pimping for Blake. LOL.
hardly need hardy.
Mario is a vet. player, unless a vet. maybe cut?/ I still go with Robin BIGsnake or just wishing.
If you are going to reach into the past, especially with this team of greybeards, please find guys under the age of 30. And find guys who have played more than a combined 50 games the last two years.
The above post was in reference to Mario.
I like the BIG surprise alot. It will definitely replace all of our fears of losing a couple of our younger guns. This BIG surprise is in this same category in my book. Some people may roll their eyes, but I think it is BIG. Can't wait for the season to start. The Komets will be ready to roll once again this year.
Argh! The secrecy... killing me! It'll probably be announced when I'm out of the office all day and can't sneak online.
No Internet coverage on your cell phone, Five Minute Major?? Tsk tsk...
I hope the BIG surprise is what I'm thinking it is, or else I've wasted a ton of time researching this person.
Holy....this is another Komets blog?? I thought this one did not exist anymore! Hi! Is this where everyone goes in the offseason? And do keep talking about this big mystery signing....I am hoping for Henley, to add my two cents, in case anyone cares!
The only d-man I would want back from the last couple years =KING-KONG HENLEY and he won't be back for a couple of years.
Komets re-signed Kevin Popp
As Borat would say...........NOT!!!!
Not Kevin Popp. Not a Defenseman.
I am ready for the puck to be dropped. Here are my projected line combinations:
Chaulk, BIG Surprise, Woods
Thomas, PC, Shafronov
Saidachev, Hukalo, MacMillan
Schrock
Guy and Mironovic
Rodgers and Warner
Bertram and Stayzer
Boucher
Haun
I could see some other combinations come out of this....but this is the early projection.
I think you're missing a couple of rookies there, Hit, along with a 19th roster spot.
Is Haun still considered a rookie?
Has Warner finally made it past rookie status? Or is he gonna be the third year rookie???
Nope, I'm living in the dark ages, my phone only makes calls! I've heard some rumors of who it might be, but don't know how trustworthy they are. If who I've heard is correct I'll be pretty happy with it. Hopefully we'll find out tomorrow?
I know Blake....I am assuming there will be another rookie or 2 that will battle it out for the final couple of spots and I am leaving that 19th spot open until we see who all is in camp. I am suggesting that there might be another "stud" rookie like we have had in years past like an O'Connor....and we don't know what Legault is doing yet....he might well fit that 19th man spot. The projections I put up are missing the 19th man, which could be Stayzer as he can play Defense and Forward and they might have another rookie that fits in on Defense.....maybe Tarantino?
But just looking at the lines I put out there....no matter how they shape up, it looks solid as solid can be. Especially knowing who the BIG surprise is....ha ha.
I wasn't sure where to fit Hukalo on the combinations. You could put him on the #2 or #3 line. Thomas would be good with Saidachev as well if you wanted to go for speed. So I guess Shaf, PC, and Hukalo could be a line....? I know I like Chaulk with Woods and Mr. BIG. That line would be explosive and add protection as Woods protected the top-line 2 years ago.
The Komets are going to be tough as nails, hope they stay healthy and hungry.
jock callander? scotty gruhl??????
He said "Jock"....ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
