Tailing the Komets

Some stuff I've heard

Justin Cross is retiring.

Sean O'Connor is likely to sign in the ECHL with Wheeling.

Justin Hodgman is going to sign with Rockford of the AHL.

Rick Varone is still deciding.

There's another BIG surprise coming next week. I'm not giving any hints other than that, so don't ask.

Also, I don't do this very often, but I think those of you who do not buy the paper or read anything other than Komets stories might get a lot out of reading this story, My Daddy Played Wildcat, Too. This is one very special little boy who has inspired me.

soooooooo, no one really knows WHEN the BIG thing will be announced?

"Mr. Big"? When did "Sex and the City" come into this? Not that I actually watched that show. In any case, I feel fortunate because I'm not anxious in the least. I know there is a 99% probability that this "surpirse" won't mean squat to me personally. But hey, the rest of you knock youselves out. :)

Wendy- The "BIG" announcement is this week! None of you care , I know. But. the Brickyard was great. Montoya was speeding! Now let's get back to hockey.

Ya, he was speeding away from the golden boys on the track so the league had to make up an excuse to put one of their boys in. NASCAR is ALMOST as fixed as professional boxing. What a joke.

I believe the "big signing" may perhaps be Matt Syroczynski. No proof just a hunch.

Andy

Farmer: I wouldn't call Matt a BIG announcement. I mean HIT is putting BIG on the first line and nothing against the guy, but Matt is not first line material

i think 40-50 points a season is top line material to me. Plus when the guy is 6.5

Farmer

Andy, I don't think so either. Just from what I have read and doing a little investigation this is my hunch. Someone stated that, "Dayton fans would be familiar with the him." Well, Syroczynski did play for the Cyclones. Someone also stated that one of his very first fights was against Erick Lizon. Well, Erick only played against the Komets in 06-07. According to Lizon's fight card that year, he fought one Komet player, Syroczynski. Remember, I am just speculating and I have no concrete proof.

Since he left the Komets..102 echl games. 55goals, 90pts...if that is not top line material i don't know what is..plus i believe he won a championship too, I could be wrong though.

Mitch Woods also played 12 games for that team last year. So maybe Mitch and Matt became friends. They both played there rookie year with the Komets and then played for Cincy. Maybe they both decided to return.

Syro, didn't even think of him, that would be a nice addition, what a team we have on paper!

Wow, Farmer didnt get censored, like someone else I know who tried to throw that name out there...............

Actually, I don't remember anyone else trying to throw that name out there before this. Maybe it went to spam. Could be I'm just getting old and don't remember it, too. Of course some people I just kick off here out of spite. :)

Matt Syroczynski? Well, that's a name that would mean something to me ironically enough. Funny. I wasn't even thinking of him as a former Komet when I watched him play last season. But yeah, they loved him in Cincy. He actually scored the game-winning goal in game 6 of the 2008 Kelly Cup Finals, giving the Cyclones the championship that year. Sheesh, I'm surprised they wouldn't want to re-sign him there. But then, I never understood why he didn't get a shot to move up, either.

Syroczynski would not be a veteran yet. He did get a call up to Binghamton, Albany & Milwaukee of the AHL 1 game each. Not long enough to get a cup of coffee. He put the puck in the net for the Cyclones. I can tell you this. The IHL is going to need to inlarge the slot for name on the score sheet. Between Konstantin Shafranof and than Matt Syroczynski along with Mark Versteeg-Lytwen. Cheezz give the score keepers a break. That's a lot of letters to fit in 11/4 in. box.
Now you all can cry, I know you would do it in a heart beat. Be honest!

Wendy

One game here, one game there does not a "shot" make. That's more like, "Hi. I'm Matt. I'll be your roster plug for the evening." With his size and the numbers he put up, he deserved some serious looks. And he certainly seemed like a decent enough fellow on and off the ice. So yeah, that would be a major coup for the Komets to land him.

He is very much so a first liner in my book. Where else do you go and find a guy under 25 that can put the puck in the net at this level and is 6-5, 240? He is in the same caliber of the 3 young stars we had last year, maybe better. Plus anyone you put with Chaulk is going to score lots of points. Add Woods to that line and you have protection and scoring too. You make that your top-line and then you have guys like Thomas, PC, Hukalo, Shafronov, Saidachev, and MacMillan to shuffle into the next 2 lines. Plus they say Schrock is talented and who knows, they might have a couple of more rookies come to camp that are real finds like O'Connor and Osman were? You never know.

I like how this is playing out. The league ought to be pretty dang tough and the Komets are right there going for the cup once again!

How many rookies must dress for a game?

I find it ironic that the newspaper would be a party to censorship....

There is no rule for how many rookies must dress that I am aware of.

You can have up to 8 veterans.

4 rookies must dress!

How many rookies and veterans can a team play?

Teams are required to play at least four (4) rookies and a maximum of seven (7) veterans during any game.

This is from last seasons rules.....I found it on the IHL website.

Super Fan Blake,

Can you find out for me if the Komets are going to be adding a new jersey this season? There were rumors last season that the Home Jersey was going to be changed.....is that going to happen this season? Or will they add an alternate jersey this season?

Thanks
