Super Bowl: Who's gonna win?

I expect this to be the biggest thread on here this week.

Who do you want to win, who do you think will win and why?

I want the Colts to win so we can sell some papers and make some money; I think the Saints will win because their defense is better. Only reason I say that is because Dwight Freeney will be playing on one leg. He's just too important for the Colts, especially against this offense.

I don't like it when a team moves. But once they do, I think they should stay wherever they are. As for the Colts, I can understand that there are some bad feelings there. Quite frankly, I think we should consider the Baltimore Colts a defunct team and the team in Indy a new franchise, even if that isn't technically the case. They should have let Baltimore keep the name and record books.

I have been a Colts fan since they moved to Indy. I grew up in that area and went to several games at the "Hoosier Dome" when they were horrible. Jack Trudeau, Albert Bentley, Billy Brooks, Chris Chandler, Gary Hogeboom, Jeff "freaking" George, Clarence Verdan, Chris Entmann, Barry Krauss, just to name a few.

I agree, alot of fans have jumped onto the bandwagon here in Fort Wayne in particular....when you have a team that gains success, it is very marketable, and people love to support winners. Heck you guys, I am a diehard Cubs fan, a diehard Indiana Basketball fan too, and I don't change my favorite teams because of how they win or lose. I am loyal to my team and brand.

Just as I am a Komets fan no matter what happens. I support them emotionally, financially, and in person physically. Anyone who knows me will attest to that. Heck, do you guys read the blog for crying out loud??? LOL

I have bought 3 different jerseys this season for the Komets. I have the Old School IHL K in Buzzsaw that the oldtimers wore vs. the redwings......the new Old School black and red jersey, and I gobbled up on of the Zoo jerseys which might be my new favorite. Not that any of that matters.......

I was just illustrating that I stick to my teams.

But I also think, the more fans that want to jump on the bandwagon the merrier. There is still room for you too SuperFan. LOL

Hey, didn't mean to start a firestorm there....I'm a Browns fan, and a Colts fan because I live here in Indiana. I just meant that my team I normally root for (the Browns) is not in this, so I'll root for the home state since they got there. Jeez. Talk about a bandwagon team, how about those godawful Pittsburgh Sqeelers, eh? I can't stand them. But that may be the whole Browns fan in me.

mightbite, thanks for the advice....I have found that Shafranov's Russian remedy works pretty well, too, if you can handle it...a shot of vodka with some black pepper sprinkled on it. Rough to swallow, but if you can keep it down, you sweat it out that night, then feel better the next morning. :)

i waz a bears fan also until they got rid of ditka and that kinda soured me to them. now i just stick with the colts and the fair weather fans are welcome cause if they watch the games or go to the games and buy jerseys and junk it just helps the team get more bucks and helps them stay in indy! i was so glad when they moved to indy and with all the movement in sports of teams owners and of course players it always upset me when the colts get beat on for leaving balitimore. like i said they were in a different city before they moved to baltimore. so if they should have stayed in baltimore then i guess youre saying the komets should have stayed in albany????????

I had posted earlier that I did not like the Colts and therefore would not be supporting them during the Superbowl. Now, after reading the rest of the blogs, I noticed that there are some very passionate Colts fans and some seem to not appreciate another not being a fan.

Alan mentioned that the Colts belong in Baltimore. I would agree with this. Chuckitt stated that the Colts didn't start in Baltimore and that is sports. So, here are my two cents.

The Baltimore Colts did leave in the middle of the night. At 2:00am, 15 semis loaded up the team and by 10:00am they were out of the city. They took alternate routes to Indiana. In my opinion, this is completely shady, and the fans deserved better than what the Colts ownership at that time did.

Also, the Colts really didn't take another team from another city. The Baltimore Colts were the Dallas Texans. That team folded in 1952 and went to Baltimore in Jan. 1953. I believe that bringing in a folded team, is quite a bit different from packing up at team at 2:00am and leaving a city.

Chuckitt is correct that teams move a lot. A great example is the Cleveland Browns going to Baltimore (however, they left the name, colors, records, etc. in Cleveland). For me, it's not that they move, it's the manner in which they do it in. How would we, as Komet fans, react in the Frankes packed up this team at 2:00am? There would be quite a bit of hurt feelings, anger, etc.

Even after all of this, I am still cheering for the Saints, but I have a sneaky feeling I will be disappointed...oh well, like I said before, I'm a Bengals fan, I'm use to it.

Andrea--Please take some time to study Komet history. You will learn something I am willing to bet you don't know. Make sure you look at the years before the Franke family became the owners. I could tell you but if you do the research you will be more impressed with our Komets!

I liked the Colts when they were in Baltimore so I guess that makes me a "real" Colts fan. Whatever that is. Maybe that's better than being a "willie nillie" fan.

Wow! I'm not sure, but I think Hell froze over!! Chuckitt's post was logically thought out to the degree that I can't really argue with him AND, on top of that, Wendy and I actually agree on something.....Dschebig, is your response to Andrea in regard to Welker moving the original Komets to Albany NY to become the Albany Choppers? Then the Franke's buying the Flint franchise and bringing it to Fort Wayne? By the way, what was the nickname of the Flint franchise at the time? Was it the Spirit, Bulldogs, or Generals?....one of the reasons I dislike the Colts is simply this. In the late 70's when cable first came to Fort Wayne ( I think John Bonsib owned the cable franchise granted by City Council ) there was a channel on it called the pre-empt channel. On Sunday afternoon the pre-empt channel always aired either the Bengals game or the Browns game. (Even seeing the Browns play was alright with me because they were in the same division as the Bengals and I could root against them.) When the Colts moved to Indy all of that changed and we were only broadcast the Colts. All three teams were in the AFC so there were no more Browns or Bengals games allowed to be aired because of the NFL restrictions. When the NFL created the four team divisions a few years ago I was hoping that Indy would move to the same division as Cincinnati, Cleveland and Pittsburgh. I think we call it a "geographic footprint" around here. At least I would get to see Cincinnati twice a year if that happened. Thats my story and I'm sticking with it.

All this talk about doing what's right and being loyal from the Bengals fans... At least that team has its colors right from a few years ago. At least, I'm pretty sure the jails in Ohio use orange and black too, right? How many of their players were busted for drugs, assault, and weapons charges within the past 5 years? Great team, I could really support that.

All that aside, I can relate more to the Bengals fans a bit. My girlfriend is from southern Indiana and her dad is HARDCORE Bengals since they live closer to Cinci than Indy. He will support the Colts though since he lives in Indiana. He's even been known to wear his Colts gear under his Bengals gear. While I could never do that myself, it's better than being a Bears fan! LoL!

Alan--That is basicly it. We had a guy before Welker who didn't know jack about running a hockey club. I am not talking about Colin Lister. I could have said all that but I was trying to get her to look it up. Besides I make way to many typo's and was trying to keep my post from becoming a book. I am implying nothing Alan. Please believe me!

Dshebig - I tried to look up some info., and what I have been able to find is minimal. I was able to find one site that had more information than others, but I wasn't too impressed with the info given - it doesn't go into much depth. What I was able to find were quite a bit of fights, ticket sales and the like. If you would like to explain it to me, I am all ears. I like learning...that's why I'm in the job I am in.

Please understand that my intentions were not to make anyone mad or upset. I was just stating what I felt. I think it would be best if I refrain from doing so in the future.

Thats OK Dschebig. I forgot about him and I don't think it is fair to name him on this blog. If I am correct, he owned a radio station, right? You are too nice of a person to ever hurt my feelings, Dschebig. I know I write books as RunningKomet likes to point out. Hey, when someone is right, they are right.....to Frozen Water, I would just like to say that a lot of times the only difference between a Cincinnati Bengal and a prisoner is the direction of the stripes on their shirts.

Andrea--Please come and see me between periods at a Komet game. I will broaden your horizons. I can be found standing just outside the Komet dressing room. This Wednesday I'll have a RedHead with me. Should be fun or crazy. Fort Wayne was very very close to not having a hockey team let alone the Komets. Please come see me!

Alan I enjoy your posts. They make sure my bi-foguls are in working order. Besides at 10 cents a word Blake is just raking in the money!:) He is saving it up to buy a Bears Super Bowl Ticket if they ever get there again.

Mr. Schebig - Is it possible to come down before the game begins to speak with you. You mentioned stopping by between periods, but I was wondering if it could be done before the game. I am always there 1 hour before the game starts, so if this is alright to do, please let me know. I look forward to talking to you.
