Tailing the Komets

Talked to David Franke today

He said he hasn't made up his mind yet, and that both candidates interviewed very well. An announcement will be made Thursday.

There's a lot to think about: Will one of them be here longer than the other would? Which form of recruiting is better, attracting players or attracting NHL affiliations? What about personality style? Which would communicate better with the fans? How about players from last year?

I think he realizes there's no wrong choice in this, but there is the potential for a great choice. There aren't too many times in life where you can have an opportunity like that.

Franke said the team also has a meeting set up with Kevin St. Pierre for this week, but there's no other news on players.

He has had it in past contracts here.

I agree with Tony. I don't see the point in a no trade clause.

And besides, Hobo, that fact that it hasn't been in print makes it an unsubstanciated(sp) rumor.

Like that would be the first rumor to appear here?

Too true, I was just wondering if there was something in print that I missed or if more wild specualtion was going on.

I'm sorry but I don't agree with the assumption of what a proven winner is. Just because Frenchy didn't win a cup, I stress again, Frenchy is one man. It is a team effort. When you have no defense and no team effort, it doesn't matter what the goalie does. No goalie can take shot after shot on him and stop every one. Watch the NHL playoffs. It sure happened there too.

I would buy that argument for one year and possible two, Not three. Frenchy's had three years and no cup.

I guess to further my point, in the playoffs a golatender is going to ask to steal a game for his team and possibly a series. When it came to crunch time Frenchy has not shown me that ability. That's why I don't consider him a proven winner.

Doesn't matter. Chaulk signed in Europe.

Not only that but I saw that Vitali Kolesnik signed to play in Russia. That may open the door for Tommy Lawson to stay with the Avalance.

Thanks Colin for your contributions to the team and community. Congratulations on getting the money you were looking for. Good luck in Russia.

Moving on...
St Pierre is indeed one man and all of those arguments are valid. However as a goalie you are in a position to "steal a game" in the playoffs. That is what a true money goaltender does. I don't remember him doing much of that in the playoffs. In fact honestly I remember some soft goals more than anything else. Maybe my memory is clouded.

I didn't know they printed UHL contracts in the paper anywhere!

Hobo-they wouldn't but either Blake or Justin could have mentioned something either here in the blogs or in a article. At that point I believe it.

I was just passing along what i heard from what I believe to be a credible source. Now that he is gone I guess it makes no difference.
