Since this is a New York Times editorial, there's also a lot of blather about how drinking tap water can save the planet as well as saving money, but the central fact is unassailable. Americans will spend money on anything -- cable TV though broadcast TV is free, ditto satellite radio -- and bottled water is the ultimate proof.

But not one more damn cent in taxes. The anti-tax argument is that individuals know how to spend their money better than government. After this article, I'm not so sure.
Doug...That's a hell of a stretch isn't it? Let's see...the American public is so stoopid they'll pay for water, therefore their complaints of increased taxation are completely without merit.
