Opening Arguments

U.S. history is everyone's

Morgan Freeman is one of those actors whose work I admire but whose personal views I know nothing about. (Too frequently, it's best not to know; better just to appreciate the artistry rather than discover how much you detest the person providing it. A lot of liberals have missed John Wayne's "The Searchers" and too few conservatives have probably seen Jane Fonda in "Klute.") But if this sample from Freeman's upcoming "60 Minutes" interview is indicative, I like the way he thinks:

"I am going to stop calling you a white man and I'm going to ask you to stop calling me a black man."

I saw that interview this evening. I particularly enjoyed his comments about Black History Month.
