Some of us have been afraid that the health care fight forced the Obama administration to use up all the possible name-calling epithets for opponents. But those folks have a really big thesaurus, and they'll make good use of it in the upcoming "immigration reform" debates:
“There are going to be demagogues out there who try to suggest that any form of pathway for legalization for those who are already in the United States is unacceptable,” said Obama. “Those are fights that I'd have to have if my poll numbers are at 70 or if my poll numbers are at 40. That's just the nature of the U.S. immigration debate.”
So, OK, I'm not a political terrorist; I'm a demagogue. But I'm versatile; maybe I can be a political terrorist and a demagogue.

Obama kowtows to the establishment on this issue just as he does on healthcare reform: utilize the language of social control ("immigration debate") to exploit one side of the argument just as xenophobes on the other side rail against unsanctioned settlers within U.S. political borders.
