Opening Arguments

On the way

Why Colts fans should be thinking "2," not "16":

It's the goal that counts and not what happens along the way.

The Indianapolis Colts will bring a 12-0 record and a 21-game winning streak into Sunday's National Football League home game with the Denver Broncos. Indianapolis has already notched a sixth AFC South crown and is getting closer to clinching home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs.

For the Colts, however, winning a second Super Bowl title is the ultimate goal. That's why all the outside distractions associated with being one of the NFL's two remaining undefeated teams have yet to affect on-field performance.

I admit to mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, I think we could all relax and enjoy the rest of the season more if the Colts just went ahead and lost one. On the other hand, a truly perfect season, all wins followed by a Super Bowl victory, would really be sweet, wouldn't it?

I'm good with however they decide to play it. I like that it seems to be less of a concern for the team than last time. They truly don't seem terribly interested in the topic.

Then again, the next game against Denver figures to be a tough one and the decision could easily be taken out of the Colts hands.
