Weighty solution for heavy kids

I suppose this approach is worth the effort:

Health researchers investigating ways to tackle America's childhood obesity epidemic have a possible solution: heavier toys.

A study of the effects of giving children weighted blocks to play with found they burned more calories and had higher heart and breathing rates than when playing with lighter blocks.

Now all we have to do is get them front in front of the TV and the computer and off the cell phones and Nintendos and . . .

Oh, and don't forget:

Others warned that children could hurt themselves by trying to lift too much too soon, or injure playmates by throwing heavy toys.

I can already see the lawsuits, the rising insurance rates, the playground edicts, the government studies . . .

Leo:
I wonder what the world would be like if they made heavy steel TONKA-NERF trucks????

That should make some toy designer rich beyond avarice, eh?

And as far as throwing those toys at playmates....two things:

1) don't piss off a playmate bad enough to MAKE them toss a "Buddy L" at you
2) if you MUST piss them off...then GET THE HELL OUT of the way when they DO toss it.

Says a lot about "playground evolutionary trends", hmm?
