Yes, I would like fries with that

It's a heck of a world when McDonald's burger flippers are telling us how to behave:

Joanna posted "Things not to do when visiting a McDonald's" at McDonald's Talk, a Live Journal community where many McDonald's employees post their thoughts, stories, complaints and ideas about their employment at McDonald's. She has worked at McDonald's for 2 years.

Here are a few of my favorites of the 43 McRules she has posted (I've made some minor corrections to spelling and grammar):

  • Don't confuse franchises! We don't Biggie size, we don't have onion rings or nachos, and no...you may not "Have it your way."
  • If you ordered a burger without pickles and they somehow ended up there anyway... just pick them off because that's all I'm going to do when you bring it back to me to "fix it."
  • Don't come into the lobby two minutes before we close. Chances are I've already cleaned, and it will only cause me to do unspeakable things to your (already stale) food.

I worked at McDonald's when they still insisted we cater to the customers, no matter how unreasonable they were; of course, this was back when they still hired almost as many adults as high school kids. I've almost given up on some McDonald's drive-thrus because of the combination of slow waits and wrong orders. Joanna ain't kiddin' about us not getting it our way. Probably one of the worst economic decisions I ever made was to ignore my boss at the downtown McDonald's who told me I should work my way up to being an owner-operator. I probably would have owned half this town by now.

This is exactly the problem with customer service!! Managers aren't much better for putting up with it. She sounds like a little selfish, spoiled brat. I agree with you on the drive thrus. The McDonalds on Coliseum and E State is one of the worst inside or out. The one at Cantebury and the one at Village of Coventry are two of the best. Mcdonalds corporate doesn't care either. I e-mailed them with complaints-no response.

I'm pretty sure the term "fast food" has become an oxymoron. The drive-thru experience is now anything but fast. Ahhhhh
progress!
