Your boom is in the mail

Just a reminder, as we get closer to our first Fourth of July with legal fireworks, to read all the police reports on Wednesday, after having stayed safely indoors all day Tuesday:

A Whitefish man was critically injured early Tuesday while allegedly using fireworks to blow up mailboxes with a friend.

I know you'll find this hard to believe, but alcohol was involved.

The new fireworks "law"...a joke (and a slap in the face of those wishing peace and quiet).

Someone saw the $$$ only and to Hades with the people. The money the fire departments will see can't be "as much" as they think.

Last year, 420 fireworks-related injuries (according the Parkview) with "illegal" fireworks.
This year, "aerials" are permitted (think of them as a cousin to a SCUD) so the injury rate should rise accordingly. I've STILL got the 10INCH body of a ricket that wound up ON my roof LAST year from the idiot across the street (yeah, the one with a criminal past, no job, BUT enough $$$ to BUY all this crap).

On the south side of the Fort...the "4th" starts around early JUNE...and goes through late AUGUST....every night, usually after 9PM...same houses, every year, and not one thing is done to quell it.

I wish I got as many "second chances" and warnings when I was young as these people get year after year for showing how irresponsible, moronic, and blatantly stupid they can be.

Considering the new law runs CONTRARY to several ordinances already on the books (96.03, 96.05, & 96.15), I'm wondering how the new law can even EXIST in the first place? Seems to me that there is some kind of conflicting laws on those books, as it stands.

Now I'm not being some old fart over this. Hell, I love setting off fireworks....in an OPEN area, free of things than can catch fire. And as far as any "DUI" (Detonating Under the Influence) is concerned...it's like driving..you just DO NOT DO IT. Using eye AND ear protection is a must...check out anyone at a shooting range!

Which reminds me...a firework is a CHEMICAL reaction, akin to shooting a gun...same result sans metal projectile. SO if I go out tomorrow and buy a crapload of 9mm & 12 gauge "blanks", then I can "have some fun too" (without that 11% sales tax)???

Love to see the FWPD respond to THAT call....
"party armed"
"shots fired"

Little difference between THAT and these larger fireworks, except for a muzzle, grips, and trigger.
Maybe everyone that wants these fireworks halted should call them in AS "shots fired"....it could work.

As to "Mr Mailbox"...well, you play with things you shouldn't, and get hurt...I guess the "punishment" fits the "crime" like a comfy shoe, doesn't it?

Personally, I would like to see the CITY ban all this crap, and let us get our "rocks off" the normal way...namely GO SEE THE PROFESSIONALS DO IT...and with STYLE!
