Opening Arguments

Hell's bells

Guess I'm going to Hell. New York Rep. Charlie Rangel says so, so it must be true:

“Anyone that’s familiar with the Bible - or anything like that,” Rangel said on MSNBC, “Jesus said that you’re going straight to Hell if you don’t treat the lesser of his brothers and sisters. And what did he say? He said he was hungry! You didn’t give him food stamps.  He was thirsty, you didn’t purify the water.  He was naked and you didn’t give him social security.  And…and… God knows, he was sick and you didn’t give him comfort!”

I haven't studied the Bible nearly as closely as Rangel surely has, so I must have missed the part about Jesus being a socialist.

Of course, this is just a slight exaggeration of the argument progressives always use to promote a statist agenda. Being our brother's keeper can't possibly mean anything but a big, central government because, well, you know, there's no other way to help people.

Peace and love, Charlie.
