Mr. Pragmatic

I don't know if this belongs up there with "I am not a crook" and "Read my lips, no new taxes," but it's a doozy:

”I’m not a particularly ideological person,” Obama said Sunday during a fundraiser in Seattle. “There’s things, some values I feel passionately about.”

Listing those values, Obama included making sure that “everybody gets a fair shake” and istreated with “dignity or respect regardless of what they look like or who they are,” providing a strong defense, and “leaving a planet that is as spectacular as the one we inherited from our parents and our grandparents.”

The president added that he’s “pretty pragmatic as to how we get it,” but he hit House Republicans at the fundraiser, calling them the “impediment” to “progress and change.”

I'm not particularly ideologocal," he says, then rattles off a list that pretty much describes the progressive ideology. And, naturally, that includes progress and change, which of course the evil Republicans are impeditments to. Someone who is in permanent campaign mode needs to have an enemy to rally the troops against. Hey, it's them being ideological, not lovable, pragmatic me.
